I love mine! I’ve had it about a year now or little longer, I mounted mine to a old cookie baking pan I swiped out of my wife’s kitchen LOL it works well to catch the brass shavings & cleanup is easy with a small paint brush I keep on hand. I like to consistent trim length with the positive stop & the trim, chamfer & debur all in one step sure makes the process nice & easy! I also immediately noticed the problem with the pilot on the cutting head with my sized cases? I just polished the pilots on my cutting heads with some fine grit sand paper a little at a time till I got it perfect for my preferred neck tension setting! I’m very pleased with my purchase of the Henderson precision trimmer

I have found it easy to adjust the length stops using a Hornady Comparator.... first trim a case intentionally long, measure to see just how long... then use the comparator to adjust the nut by the amount of the overage.

Thank you for the video and sharing your thoughts. I see a lot of people comparing this and the Giraud but no one has talked about what I would think would be one of the big functional differences. The Henderson bases its trim on case overall length, while the Giraud trims from the shoulder. I would think trimming from the shoulder would be preferred and produce more consistent results, but would like to hear what others think. Maybe its not as important as I’m thinking it is?

About the only reason I didn'r buy a Henderson was I need some 3 way heads that had to be custom built at the time, as Forster/Henderson didn't offer them as a standard line item, and that didn't come cheap.. I needed 7 of those at that time. You could swap pilots and reset the blades, but that is counterproductive. Buying a bunch of adaptors for the Giraud adds up too.

I want the Henderson really bad but geez are they expensive not to mention I can’t ever find one in stock. I wish there was a attachment for it to remove military crimps and maybe primer pocket cleaner. I swear if someone where to make a attachment to remove the military crimp and clean the primer pocket that tool would be a top seller.

After using the Giraud for about 3 months now, there are some areas that just drive me nuts. If you want to use a single cutting head, then you better have a ton of spare cases to play with the adjustments and cutting angles. OMG, it can take an hour to get it set correctly, and it's only good for that expanded diameter on the case. If you change from a .001 neck tension to a .003, then you'll have to change the cutter. If you want to change from a 6mm to a 308, then buckle in, because changing it isn't fast. And there's just not much room to work and not to mention the dang blade has that tiny V and if you don't have magnification, then getting it just right is hard as hell. If you have multiple calibers to cut for, just buy multiple cutting heads for each of them. You'll thank me later. I am thinking of buying a Henderson just for the easier changeover method. I also like the way it feeds over the Giraud case inserts. I had a guy make me a bunch of 3d printed ones. The Giraud is loud as hell too. Hate that about it. I hate how the brass shavings fall back into the bearing. I have seen some inconsistency in the COAL but this isn't due to the Giraud being inconsistent, it's due to me not trimming exactly the same way.

So far I'm really loving it and I can see myself switching but I'll make that decision in a week or two. I'm in the middle of making a comparison video and it's going to help people figure out which one suits their needs better. They're both great units but definitely some differences that may be better for one person vs. the other.

Could you use this trimer to do large lots of 300 blackout brass conversion from 223 without using a mini chop saw? I'm just curious if the cutter will hold up. I know this machine isn't intended for this but if I buy one I'd like to know. It might be a better all around option over the Dillon 1500 trimmer.
@FClassJohn
@FClassJohn 2 жыл бұрын
I honestly don't know. I've used the Dillon trimmer back in the day to make 300blk and it works great. I would call Henderson up and ask. He's a good guy and won't lie just to make a sale.

Nothing is faster than the Dillon trimmer for this. Get the trimmer and the trim die for 300BO. You can run it on a single stage. I have cut down 223 to 300BO around 3-4 seconds tops per case and it comes out sized to 300BO, all you do is feed a 223 case to it and it returns a 300BO case. You'll still need to chamfer and debur though, but it's made for that kind of torque hit. I find the Giraud and Henderson is not that powerful nor do they run anywhere near the RPMs of the Dillon RT-1500. That thing has got to be turning 5k rpm and with the carbide blade it just eats the brass. The RT-1500 and the trim die isn't exactly cheap, but if you're doing a ton of 300BO shooting, then it's worth every penny. You can also buy other trimming dies if you run other calibers.

If you research, look at case mouth squareness after trimming. I have never been able to get a square cut from the less expensive options, so I end up finishing on a Wilson hand trimmer. Great results, but so much time (I just timed it to be over a minute to power trim, hand finish, chamfer using a precision head on my Wilson, debur.... Take that out over a few hundred+ per month-- this was a no-brainer. Ordered my Henderson this morning.
