HENG LONG King Tiger - Barrel Recoil, Flash & Smoke Explanation

This is an explanation video about the internal workings of my modified Heng Long King Tiger. I added a barrel recoil, flash and smoke function as well as some other modifications.

I do not have any direct links to the upgrades that I used for this tank. It seems Heng Long is often changing their products. Also you can use aftermarket (non-Heng Long parts)
Basically, what you need to make the barrel recoil, flash and smoke work is:
- Heng Long 7.1 (or the older 6.1) MFU, as long as it has servo motor support
- Barrel smoke and flash control board. This normally included a LED for the muzzle flash
- An smoke generator pot and air pump motor
- Heng Long aluminum recoil bracket for the barrel movement
- To make the barrel up and down movement work with a servo you also need a second servo motor

Very Neat Model work on the good ol' Heng Long KT! I've got one of these with all the metal addons and 7.0 mfu as well as an original Heng Long Porsche Turret KT. Doing a dual build on them, paint, details, better crew, etc. Hopefully, they will turn out as well as yours.

You briefly talked about it, but is it true that with the stock 7.0 MFU in the current Henglong’s that you would need to go to the 7.1 if you wanted barrel recoil(servo)/smoke/gyroscope for barrel/turret stabilizing for modern tanks? Just got a Leopard 2A6 and the manual is kind of confusing, it seems like some extra functions/servos can be added to a 7.0 before you need to upgrade to the 7.1, but it isn’t super clear. With the servo recoil, is the gun depression/elevation more adjustable/correct? Since that is my current biggest complaint with my leopard is that the elevation could be better and the depression is like maybe 3 degrees which isn’t even close to being real and just looks plain wrong

Heng Long makes it a bit confusing as they made a combined manual for the 7.0/7.1 boards. At least, the manual I use is. So it's difficult to determine what will and won't work on the 7.0. But basically if you want to use servo motors, you will need a 7.1 MFU as the 7.0 MFU doesn't have any ports to connect the 3-wire servo motors. I'm not sure about the gyro as I don't use one. From what I gather from reading online it would probably plug into the CN14 port. But the 7.0 doesn't have this port, only the 7.1 does. As for the barrel elevation and depression: on the 7.1 there are buttons that let you set the amount of throw for the elevation servo (only works with a servo, not with the regular elevation motor). If I remember correctly it has 3 ranges of elevation. Also, if you mount a servo for elevation you can kinda control range yourself with placement of the servo and the length of the servo arm. To me that was the most fiddly part, as there is no bracket or anything for installing the elevation servo. You really have to figure that out as you go. Hope that helps a bit.
