Video is from the CIK-FIA european championship in Superkart held at Assen TT circuit 3-5th of August 2012.
I start in pole position and fuck up the start, dropping me down to 10th position. After some intense batles and a safety car periode I end up in 3rd position.
The Superkart I drive has a 250 ccm, 2 stroke, 2 cylinder, PVP engine.
Chassis is also made by PVP. The kart has aprox. 100 HP and does around 250 km/h as topspeed.

Watching this, you can understand why Senna once said that the most exciting race he'd done in his whole career was in karting. Pure driving. Pure racing. Kudos to you, Henrik.

@@cynematic6208 well yes and no bc karting and super karts both use a circuit track just the super karts use a car track, and the two stroke go karts have the same engine as a super kart but the difference between a normal two stroke kart and a super kart is the power and speed, plus there’s two stroke shifter karts and super karts are also shifter karts so if you think about it the almost the same

No rail guard/roll bar either. No HANS (Hand and Neck Support System) More dangerous then F1. If this driver use only steering skill without any electronic assist, than that would be super duper amazing.

WWYD78 Dude F1 is much more Dangerous? I doubt that... Imagine you crash at 200 kmh with this thing, you have no safe carbon monocoque to protect you. Search up Karting accidents on youtube if you want to see what I mean

+jdmikeg4 There's plenty of money required in any form of motorsport, from grassroots all the way up the ladder. I raced karts in Canada, compared to putting a kid into hockey, soccer, baseball, football, etc - there's no comaparison, it's costly! Escpicially if you want to be competitive and run near the top.

+Michay97 These races are held during the free entry Gamma Racing Days at TT Circuit Assen. Even paddock tickets are pretty cheap that day. Lots of other races on that day as well. Including an F1 demo lap from Max Verstappen last year and before that David Coulthard did it for Red Bull. Next to that you have Cup car class races, Touring car class races, Classic car races, Motorcycle races, Motorcycle races with sidecart, and so on. Plus various demos all around. Price: Free unless you want to get into the paddock. :)

I wonder how they manage with a so direct steering: the driver almost don't use it, and enter the corners more with brakes and gas. I mean: very short wheelbase, a steering so direct, a trim so hard, at more than 220 km/h... needs wild cat reflexes...!

mssmmgnn they carry as much g force as an f1 car. though they aren't as quick as an f1, they are quicker than most modern race cars.

I would rather watch a season of this then a season of f1 this is great, nice battles and the karts look so controllable and fun. 250 kph in these would be so fast, around a short track would be unbeatable

135-140 mph must be scary for the first few times when your so close to the ground. Very impressive. Things have moved on since I was a lad into moto cross. No good getting into this at my age but it'd be nice to have a go once. Love it.

I went on a go kart that didn't go above 25 km/h for 15 mins and afterwards my hands/wrist felt like they were crushed in between to 5 ton rocks. Imagine this.

Wow, these are fast, > 220 kmh (around 140mph) on a go-kart. Looks better than Formula Ford and similar, I'm guessing you get a much better sensation of speed being more exposed and lower to the ground. Great video and great racing too.

Mmm, great video but if I can offer tips. Too much lifting going on. On or off the throttle/break never either, ride the brake a little more and shift brake bias to solve under-steer in fast corners. Also when someone is alongside keep your foot in. Good effort though. Mark (Former champion) p.s. loved that move at the end :-)

When looking at the video you have to keep in mind that the lens makes the distance looks bigger then what it really is. Most of the time we are much closer then what it appears on the video and there are plenty of braking duals even though they seem quite week because of the lense/distance distortion.

Kart 78 was driving like a dick, he was backing him up in corners trying to keep him from overtaking. Pretty close to illegal blocking in some of those moves.

+Simons World If I have that sort of situation when I run 1/8 RC on-road, I simply take the guy out while entering a corner. At the third corner of his/her obstruction, a gentle nudge on the rear inside wheel usually does the trick. Unofficially, it's called the 'three corner rule'. There maybe complaints, but needs must, especially when it's only a series of 5 minute qualifying rounds, the weather indicates it may change adversely for later rounds if say you're running in round two of four.

Interesting. I've never driven a kart with seatbelts so far, let alone seen one ;) Just have a look at some rolling shots of superkarts, you'll notice that there's no belt present...

To dangerous to have seatbelts when there is no roll cage around you. You could end up with the kart on top of you during a crash.

there are 125cc classes and then the 250cc classes. Mostly Running TM9C engines, either 1 in the 125 or like here 2 coupled to the gearbox.

That is not correct for the 250 cc class.. 95% run with a 1 cylinder 250 cc or 2 x 125 cc (the fastest ones called division 1 = the one on the video). Its a tandem motor with one gearbox in the rear of the engine.

where is the clutch? i see him shift but never use a clutch. how does that work?

imtypingwords 41 the sprockets inside the gearbox is made in a way so you don't need to use the clutch. The sprocket are cut straight so they can slide into each other, but you need to either lift the throttle when you shift or use a quickshift that cuts the ignition for about 50 msec.

19:16 From here till the end is some excellent racing, No. 78 screwing his race up and not backing down into the final corner was some ballsy stuff! And the final corner was a very very gutsy move, could have taken him out if he was too hot into it but was executed perfectly. Some Great racing and a well deserved 3rd place!

The speed you see on the video is measured with GPS, not the rolling diameter of the tyres. Tyres are 6" Dunlop soft compound.

Your Kart has one hell of a good setup to see you take super shallow approaches to turns 1 and 3 and still carry more momentum than the Karts around you.
