I really could care less how pleasant, funny or entertaining this man was, bottom line he devoted his life to crime. He became a major criminal involved in all sorts of crimes including murder. He joined the witness protection program to save his skin.

@@callipitter They said he was *involved* in murder, not that he committed it himself. Besides, are you 100% certain that he never murdered any one within that dangerous lifestyle? Were you there with him the entire time, even with all the fill in the blanks we never heard about? Do you think he would talk about it if he had killed anyone?

Tony63909 is absolutely right. Even with Jim Burke dying in jail, he still got to live most of his life like a king. But the fact is, is that most of us regular guys or "suckers", as Henry would view us, couldn't do what these guys did because we aren't cruel and psychotic. And these "wiseguys" have got another thing totally wrong. We hard working folks do have balls, more then them. We, the soldiers, cops, firemen and everyone struggling to provide for their families show the real courage.

Family knows family. His sister nailed it. It's always been about Henry, from Day 1. "If you cornered him, he'd rat you out as long as he didn't get caught." Henry is a great con. Not my hero that's for sure. Far more honorable men walk the earth than Henry Hill. Charmer? Only if you fall for his game.

Hard to build good character taking shortcuts and living entitled your whole life.

Apparently he wanted to be alone to run a restaurant but the movie deal changed everything. As a thief, druggie, deadbeat dad, and alcoholic, Hill was a lowlife and pathetic excuse for a human being. His only real redeeming quality was his cooking. I actually cook for a living so I checked out his cookbook out of curiosity and I must say the guy really knew his stuff (I even learned a thing or two myself). He was legit when he ran restaurants which I respect, but I'll only give him that much.

Got to love some of the little boys on here calling Hill a 'rat' - as if they themselves are gangsters or believe there is some kind of moral code to be attached to not informing on a bunch of thugs who would kill you as soon as look at you. Grow up. It would be interesting to see how most of the people commentating would react if faced with the torture and murder of themselves and their families. Yes, you would just stand by and watch it happen wouldn't you? Cos you is gangsta!

There was an ep on Law and Order where a Henry Hill character was murdered at a fine restaurant during press junket by the daughter of a man he had murdered. She killed him the same way he killed her father to collect on a loan earlier than their deal.

I see your point. I guess it's how you look at it. Because of "Good Fellas, Henry Hill was able to get some lucrative business oportunities. He would have never had such oportunities if he'd have lived a life as a law abiding citizen like most of us. Personally though, I would want nothing to do with anything that would have made Hill a buck.

But people who make movies do so for the sole purpose of making money, it doesn't matter what the subject matter is. Hill's life just makes for a fascinating story, as did Jake LaMotta, Lefty Rosenthal, the Dalai Lama, and Howard Hughes when Scorsese made movies about them. Telling a story doesn't require "glorification".

I have also saved a persons life and I am currently working with a family that had their daughter murdered by her husband.There are other things that I have done that even you would consider "interesting". Just as important as those things is the importance I place in no recognition.There is something wrong with society when a Henry Hill gains celebrity for being a low-life.

@MaskedMarvyl11 жыл бұрын
Three points: Hill never beat alcoholism; that part isn't true. One of the last interviews he did was in a bar, where he drank right in front of his AA sponsor. "Henry Hill has come to terms with breaking the honor code of the mafia". Well, that would be quite an emotional journey: except Hill had no honor to begin with, so it was easy for him to "come to terms". Finally, there Were gangsters that wanted him dead; and frankly, it's too bad someone didn't drop a dime on Hill's location.

I have no love what so ever for organized crime. (Unless I am the organizer...lol). That being said, I do have great love for loyalty, something that Mr. Hill would apparantly know nothing about. Sure, he can justify turning on the mob to save his life, and the lives of his family, but what about turning on his wife, cheating, etc...I would love to talk to the guy, and ask him a few questions.
@Tony6390913 жыл бұрын
. Looking over his shoulder? You obviously weren't paying attention from 1:49-2:58. Hedonism and impulse? Because of it, he profits by writing a cook book, opening a web site, hiring a manager, doing a series on his post "Goodfellows" days and become a celebrity. I've worked honorably all my. I haven't had Howard Stern or Hollywood call about my life story. For that matter, I haven't had anyone want to do a documentary about me. Would Hill have these oportunities if he hadn't have been a crook?
