I started playing guitar at 13. Later switched to piano. But I had already written half a dozen songs way before that, starting at approx. 6 years of age - before playing any instrument at all. Most of those pieces are crap. I'm no 'Mozart'. And making 'a capella' overdub recordings with two tape recorders was awful. Also, my pieces were merely stylistic rip-offs of what was on the air back then. Since then I have become a composer/producer with a solid background in classical harmony/counterpoint and jazz. Henry Kaiser is a virtuoso - whether you like his music or not. You could put Mr. Kaiser on stage with Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Bill Frisell, John Zorn or the likes of which without any rehearsals and they'd not only get along very well, but probably produce some legendary masterwork of historical significance. My personal musical preferences aside, I admire Henry Kaiser's originality, courage and resilience that keeps him going despite all the (KZfaq endemic) haters.

@@torreydunn2170 He is an innovator and, as with all innovators, most of his innovations fail - that's the nature of innovation. But I guarantee you that there are guitarists who've been inspired by some of his innovations to create music that you and millions of others actually consider to be fabulous. It's sad that off-the-wall creative genius like this can lay the groundwork for popular trends, yet the fruits of that popularity they never receive. It has always been thus for artists who eschew popularity for genuine originality.

LOL. To clear up confusion some might have, Henry is the grandson of Henry J. Kaiser. Most folks have heard of Kaiser Shipbuilding, or Kaiser-Permanente, that was his grandfather's legacy. Henry here, is an unemployed, self-satisfying heir to a massive fortune who actually paid to have this film made. It's much the same with his albums. He uses the Kaiser fortune to supplement his bad hearing, and creates tales about what a tough childhood he had in exclusive boarding schools. Boo Hoo. Terrible.
