@@tobejiru Are you joking ? Racism and the topic is all over the media non stop and has been for years. Perhaps if people actually stopped talking non stop and trying to be clever about it and amplifying it, we might get some balance. Talking on and on about something, does not solve it at the end of the day, it only keeps it alive. What solves it, is education about peoples thoughts and beliefs, which is much deeper and more complex than any nonsense that comes out of media celebrities. One incident of one fan, is always amplified 1000fold, as if it is typical with everyone, the topic is well over talked about, above and beyond the reality. Perhaps just shut up talking about it, will help.

It's interesting that Thierry mentioned the "I'm not black, I don't know what it means" response, because honestly that's something I could see myself saying. Over the last few years, it's felt like you can get shunned for offering your opinion on a group that you're not part of, i.e. "You're not black, you don't understand", but I guess what Thierry is saying is that there's a middle ground. Don't try to dominate the conversation, but still get involved. Wise words that I'll personally try to learn from.

its even harsher and more open, cause as Henry mentioned, there is no representation, there is none in the ranks higher than us, to empathize with us, we are taught to live with it and try to forget. People forget we are humans too, like Henry says; Lukaku and Vini are superstars, the whole world watches and sees it. They HAVE to take actions, just to please a "status quo", there is no pressure from outside in the lower levels. Thats why Henry said he would like to know what others think, cause if u feel like the only one who wants to fight and your teammates arent on the same page. Youll feel outcasted. Its the ability to recognize and empathize, actually step up for someone, put your heart on the line and in the eye of the storm and show the people its not right. Anyone can post a picture or wear a shirt, it means nothing. Ive been there, the way they adress black people in dressings rooms, even your own teammates, it shows you how they actually think about people that look like you. You also know, one day youre the greatest, the next time u could be in the garbage, thats how much faster it goes. Hence why i quit football, u feel undermined/undervalued and underrespected, even when it comes to your wages compared to others. Let me remind you, not so long ago "black" keepers werent even a thing, now we have Onana and a couple years back Mendy. Its the boxes, way of seeing us and thinking about us that def still exist U almost had/have to play a role, in order to get in, to belong. And honestly life is a competition, as long as "white" people are eating and upgrading, they wont care, they still you as competition, but thats one "less" race for them to worry about, thats how they see it. Racism is a societal and systematic problem, football is a huge part of many cultures aswel, almost a mirror. From young to old, poor to rich. Ask any black player, theyve all experienced it starting from a very young age. And if everyone is still too busy with their own comfort, failing to empathize because of this, it will always be a huge problem. Saka and Rashford being racially abused after their penalty misses and all u read is "they have gotten back to form, they fought back".... What is this stupid statement? There is no fight back, you shouldnt be abusing someone in the first place. So are we now gonna use this as motivation to upgrade and sush haters? No, it says alot about the way communities/countries think about certain groups of people. Specially in the lower ranks...

Empathy is only one aspect. People listen really well when you touch their MONEY. Forget fining clubs hit up the major sponsors. When enough consumers of Heineken, Mastercard and Pepsi start pouring pressure on them by not consuming their products and services unless something is done about this, then that pressure will shift to UEFA. UEFA WILL ANSWER THE PHONE when one or more of those big sponsors call them because they themselves are feeling the pinch. Spread the pain around. If the VICTIMS are uncomfortable, then EVERYONE needs to be uncomfortable until this changes.

I am a black man, I was having a coffee in Keswick some years back i went to a friend's wedding. Half way through my coffee I started hearing some mumbling behind me and slowly the voice got louder and louder. A gentleman kept saying "You don't belong here" eventually he started shouting and soon he was standing in front of me berating me. Everyone kept silent and acted like nothing was happening, not even the shop staff did anything. I stood up calmly paid for my coffee and left. But i will never forget how that made me feel, angry and ashamed. But i know if i reacted in any way during that incident than i would be labeled the aggressor. I travel a lot and It happens all over Europe, sometimes it's not so blatant other times it's in the small things. It's just exhausting. Racism is mentally and emotionally draining thing to go through and it's honestly so heard to explain just how terrible it feels to be judged as less simply based on the color of your skin.

Henry is making so many excellent points. However, I must entirely fair here. Thierry Henry got jobs in management, he was given a golden opportunity to do well in management, he completely and utterly failed at Monaco, he fell out with his squad within the first week. He went to Montreal to manage, if he was not Thierry Henry, he certainly would not have lasted 3 years. He can complain about it now and insinuate racism prevents him from finding employment, but a 20% win rate says it all. He has also made it very clear from his employment history, he has a desire to manage in the French language, this limits his clubs even further.

This is why points deduction or no supporters/supporter ban is bad Rival fans, hooligans and bad element of society can use it to hurt the club. Also anyone who want financially hurt the club, city and owners could do it as well. These type of punishments are what are called extreme judgement that always affect negatively. Only the community can stop it. It's impossible that majority of the people are racist. So what the 'community' should do, is that they should identify the racists individually and punish them individually. It's very difficult thing to do but the right way to do it

The racial abuse is coming from a minority of the fans, so I personally think its down to the surrounding fans to put a stop to it. Theres no point in points deductions because that wont stop those individual fans coming back and doing the same. Banning fans then isnt fair on other fans and also on the players/club not playing in the right atmosphere. If an official is racist, theres microphones to capture that and it can be dealt with. If other players are racist then you can impose individual fines and bans. But as most of these racist incidents come from select fans to the players you either: 1) When purchasing a ticket you have to do it with some form of ID, then when you enter the stadium the ticket is scanned and it identifies you on their system. Then on the system on a digital blueprint/model of the seats it can recognise where your seat is. Then when an incident happens with the fans there are cameras able to identify the individual and it digitally identifies them. Then it can be reported, fined and banned from entering the stadium again. (would be effective but not a fan of this as its very dystopian/controlling). 2) Its down to the fan community to teach others how to behave and change the culture in football "hooliganism" and if someone is racist in the fans they dont stand for it and call them out.

Sad thing is racism will never end. Same way sexism and every other form of discrimination. There will always be dickheads. What we have to do is be better and indentifying these people, punishing them so severly that it deters others. There name and face all over social media and informing their work place is a good start. Im sure people will think twice if it meant they would be held accountable more for their actions.

He is speaking about « having your own Testimony » What is your witnessing !! What are you gonna do ?? Always the same question. Like in the Torah or the Bible « Who will witnessing about who they are? »Because you only can witnessing about what you are made of 😊 Well done Thierry !!! We all are on the pitch !! And an old movie with Denzel Washington in 2002 « John Q » the wife of John in the phone is yelling on him because they are victim of an injustice. Here is her « question » her « command » toward her husband : « John, What are you gonna do ?? Do something !!! »❤

The first step to beat racism is to acknowledge that it isnt a one way street. The 2nd step is to stop bullshtting & accept the fact that Racism, Bullying, Murder, etc. will NEVER go away. Its a hard pill to swallow, but it will never go away, no matter how hard you "tackle" these things. You cant change it. You can ban fans from attending games for a whole season to try and make them "learn their lessons" but these things will always be there. Theyll be at home watching the games with that same mentality and will come back the same. You eliminate one, another will come. I was born & raised in Compton & as dangerous & sad it is to live here, i can respect the way people here react to racism. Which is simple. Dont react, we couldnt give a fck about what anyone says about our race, skin color, accents, etc. We just dont care. As long as no one is all up in our face, we dont care. Racism doesn't exist here for all we know. If we hear anything, we treat it as a joke & give the jokes back & if they got a problem with it then thats on them. Mind you, this is only in Compton. The rest of the country are deluded and sensitive about every word.

You know racism isn’t just about name calling or getting weird looks. I can laugh when someone tells me to go back to Mexico, that’s fine. But when the police stop me for no reason? Or when I don’t get that job offer even though I’m college educated? What then? Just ignore that? Also just because racism is never gonna completely go away, doesn’t mean we can’t try to fight it. By your logic, we shouldn’t have done anything about the KKK… I grew up in Long Beach, I know how it is. You can accept that racism isn’t going away and also fight it. Only pussies stop fighting back

Unfortunately, there is racism everywhere but probably much less in modern football than elsewhere.

In terms of black coaches getting jobs. I think Vincent Kompany could change the game on that. His Burnley team look really impressive, using modern approaches to coaching, data etc… if we are to see any coach progress in this modern era of football they need to be thinking ahead of the game not with it or behind it. I really hope we have a more diverse pool of coaches for the sake of younger generations coming through. In terms of racist fans you need several things. Strong penalties on clubs (not half hearted £10000 fines), bans on racist fans, prison sentences for racist fans (this will require lawmakers and executioners to be strong against racism which hard when many of the lawmakers are racist themselves). Footballing governing bodies need to take the lead with this. Teams with racist fans should be banned from competitions, points dropped, fans excluded etc… this should apply to national teams where a club from a country who’s fans are clearly being racist should be banned, docked points or fans banned from games. Go strong or go home Fifa, UEFA
