Henry Rollins is a perfect example of where focus and discipline can get you in life.

terrypussypower yes! People need to do a couple things in order to gain a pure understanding of Henry and the truth he's not only lived, yet even more so, has put forth publicly - about the depths of himself: 1. Join an original, against the grain band that really gets under people's skin and stick it out playing shows and recording (touring if possible!) for at least 2-3 years. 2. Listen to/read his spoken/written word with particular prevalence given to the Get In The Van output. That loneliness in front of the entire world thing is so absolutely true... and thus, if you truly don't enjoy (the "enjoyment" maybe end up being retrospective, or with the benefit of hindsight) the time/pain/discipline/learning/humility needed in order to create musical art in the band setting, then you will be severely broken down by it.. .just look at Henry, he has thrived, but SUFFERED AND STUCK IT OUT. I never saw BF, but was old enough for a few Rollins Band shows, and his presence back then makes even more sense to me now after the Get In the Van readings, especially. Remember people, he was SOBER for all of it. In a world where getting loaded is akin to drinking H20, well, props to the man for sticking it out. An American Patriot, if there ever was one!

***** Yeah, Henry's my idea of a REAL American!

I agree, but being in the right place at the right time. If the singer of Black Flag hadn't decided to switch, and he didn't get on stage at that time, I doubt we'd know who Henry is now! And the Henry now is very rich and famous and can pretty much do anything.

Henry is a perfect example of where saying the acceptable things and towing the line can get you a record deal and acting gigs even if you have no talent.

What a great album this is, IMHO his best. With its message of self-respect and empowerment I wish it had come out when I was 14, instead of 35. I really could have used it and I mean that as the highest praise I can give.

If you look at the liner notes to Weight it says the album was recorded in December 1993.

I'd like to see him do another Rollins Band album (especially with the Chris Haskett lineup)

Weight is a great album, but for me the best Rollins album is The End of Silence. That has some seriously epic tracks. Another Life still gives me chills.

Yes man, totally agree. Weight is very good but TEOS is close to being the best album of all time. There's nothing like it. The only thing that drags it from the top spot is 'Blues Jam', in my opinion.

I have the end of silence album on CD, it's the only rollins album I own, one of my favorites.

Based on his journal entries about the brief reunion tour they did a few years ago, it is very unlikely there will ever be another album with any lineup of Rollins Band, unfortunately.

Muy buen disco

Check out the books A Dull Roar and A Preferred Blur. I believe Preferred Blur is the one that features all his entries made during the last reunion tour opening for the band X. From what I can gather, creative differences along with the band's diminished popularity are the main reasons why Rollins wont go full on with the band anymore.

They had a similar thing on Noisy Mothers in the UK, with the whole band. They said a bear used to come and eat all the stuff in the bins.

Probably taken from a VHS tape. Magnetic storage only lasts so long.
