Matthew, when I met my wife back in 2000, she had just purchased a 2000 dodge neon 5 speed with a 2.0L engine. I couldn't drive it, but I could maintenance the vehicle. It was our most reliable vehicle. I have done brakes, a cam sensor, and a couple shift cable bushings over the years. Nothing major. Still runs great. I'm sitting in it running fuel injector cleaner through the engine as I am typing. My wife taught me how to drive a manual transmission in this car. It is very special to me. I'm sorry for my mom. It is sad how people take advance of people. I love your channel and your integrity. God bless you and your family.

@Young516_ The only time I hear lifter tick is after it has sat for a few weeks without driving. It goes away after running the engine. I've used all the major brands of oil in it. I always changed the oil at 3,000 miles. I timing belt and water pump is coming up.

700 for parts and labor on a timing chain and power steering pump is insanely low. You’re a good guy but you gotta start making this stuff worth your while. I understand getting your foot in the door and helping people out some with slightly lower prices than industry standard, but you’re charging like 30% of what any other shop would. You work hard, you should have something to show for it when you’re done.

Brother what a great guy ! I just started a mobile mechanic business a few weeks ago here in Oklahoma and have been watching your videos to help me boost my confidence with customer interaction . I’ve been turning wrenches for about 10yrs now and am currently working at a dealership as well so I have been having to schedule work after my full time job or on the weekends, it gets exhausting having to load my tools up from the shop and in my vehicle constantly but it’s worth it in the long run to be able to see a happy customer that wasn’t charged outrageous shop prices and some extra money in my pocket. THANK YOU AND KEEP BEING YOU !! I cheer you on every video you upload and pray for a successful business

That tensioner sound is interesting. I had my timing belt done on my MK4 Jetta about 14 years ago and I recall that noise being present afterwards. It was faint but I could hear it. I suspect the mechanic never changed out the tensioner and I'm assuming the entire job was basically useless? I sold that car a few years later and the guy who bought it ended up blowing the top end because it skipped time. I had all the paperwork for the job and he knew it had been replaced but now I think back and realize that may have been the reason why? I bad tensioner?

$250 for the timing chain 😳 I paid £600 for a timing chain to be done on an opel corsa 1.2 two years ago 😳😳 and then I paid the same garage £300 to do the water pump like a month later because that went to be honest I was suspicious that they may have sabotaged it because you have to take the water pump off to do the chain and the chain never sounded good either, I certainly wouldn't use the same garage ever again, the water pump literally went or started making noises like a week after they'd done the chain 🤷‍♂️ but you can't prove it so 🤷‍♂️

They should have insisted and made the water pump part of the timing job absolutely. I don't feel it was sabotage though, the new tight chain and tensioner alone would have wreaked havoc on the old worn water pump.
