Interesting cause I came to claim the exact opposite. Perseverance sure, I won't disagree on that but what about in regards to emotional regulation and awareness. I would focus specifically on identifying what she is feeling emotionally across the spectrum of scenarios encountered in game. I would bet a nickel there's a super strong correlation between her performance and emotion meaning she has difficulty suppressing any stress/anxiety/anger/fear/doubt.

@@-neXusRL you're right I shouldn't have used the word claim but rather to raise the question about the possibility of such. But I don't fully agree about cbell knowing best. In this type of circumstance only Emmie truly knows. Because it's pretty easy to stay calm around others for short stretches of time but much harder to do so when alone for long hauls

So glad this series is still going, I'm pumped for Emmie to hit GC. As someone struggling with the grind through Diamond, seeing her working hard is very motivating for me. The drop back to Plat might be disheartening, but it's all in the name of improvement. Nobody's road to GC is a straight line, as much as we wish it could be. Best not to get too hung up on your specific rank, and focus on your goals and implementing your game-plans in game. A Diamond who loses 10 games and demotes to Plat but learns from their losses and improves, will eventually outrank a Diamond who wins 10 games and promotes to Champ but learns nothing because they think they're playing great. The only Ls we take are Lessons.

i feel like, for a while, changing button binds would hurt more than it would help. i had the same bindings she did in the video and because of this video i just now changed my drift button from X to LB where my air roll is. i tried messing around in freeplay but it's so hard to get used to not pressing X for drift after 7 years of playing and 2 years of being Diamond 1/2. it's gonna take a LONG time to retrain my muscle memory to the point where i almost dont think it's worth it. i've never really been in a situation where i absolutely _need_ to press drift and boost at the same time. i always tap drift and then boost immediately after and that's usually been fine. i know that in the higher ranks i will need that extra speed so that is why i'm changing it now, but i'm scared that if i actually play ranked like this i'm gonna go from D2 to plat 3 or even lower

@@Jzombi301 Well it all really depends on if you're in it for the logn run or just want to improve quickly and try to derank at least as possible. Also if you're not confortable with it try maybe using your new keybinds in freeplay and use your older ones for ranked, at least until you think you're good enough to change.

I switched up my keybinds not that long ago to accomplish similar things that you two were aiming for in her training, and it initially set me way back. I had so much muscle memory on my original keybinds that I get pressing the wrong buttons in the game. But, now that I've gotten used to it, the switch has definitely raised the ceiling for my potential, also. Power through the rank drop, stay strong, and keep it up!

I mean, this video series might seem a good idea but they also are hard and frustrating to make and watch. I look at my progression also to say that I can understand her and the reason she struggles to rank up fast. The only reason I got my rank is cause of COVID during 2020 and 2021. And I would bet that's true for many other RL players. If it wasn't for me being mostly confined in my house, I wouldn't have spent the insane amount of time playing this videogame. And I truly mean insane. I remember once I had 102 hours over the previous 2 weeks. If all this pandemic didn't happen I would be 2 full ranks below what I'm now. There's a reason people who do road to SSL with all those tips making it sound easy don't simply make everyone in their viewership rank up to SSL instantly. And it's not cause they might be bad at coaching in the right way or giving the correct advices. That's cause RL is just not a game where you can replicate something purely cause someone showed you how or told you how you should behave in a specific situation. She could party with an SSL player on an alt account and have her carry up to GC in one afternoon if her goal was simply to get to GC, but in order to get to the ability and knowledge and mechanics of the players in that rank you need loooads of time. The average GC (from GC1 to GC3) probably has over 3k hours in game. I don't know how many hours she has in game but from her rank I would assume it's max 1k hours. To get to 3k she would need to play an average of 5 hours a day for more than one year. And we all know she doesn't put that amount of time into the game. So with her natural progress, I'd say she's looking at a 2+ year journey. But when talking about as much time as more than 2 years, another factor has to be considered which is that other players improve too and in order to keep the rank distribution right, reaching higher ranks becomes harder and harder. Basically she has to improve more than the average player at her current rank improves during all stages of her climb. Many people rank up to a specific rank and get stuck for loads of time simply cause they can't outpace the improvement progression of other players at that rank. While others maybe even reach a rank and then find themselves drop down and incapable to rank back up cause they are not even matching the average improvement at that rank and are left behind, like if you leave the game for years it's very evident. If she will ever reach GC by her own and actually stay at that rank for long enough to prove it wasn't a fluke, it surely won't be this year or next year. And you can quote me on that if I will be wrong. That would mean that either: 1. Psyonix messed up the rank distribution, like in OG s3; 2. She was playing with her monitor off all this time and she finally turns it on; 3. She finally has found the way to put a massive amount of time into RL, way more than 5 hours a day on average. I don't really see any other scenario where she reaches this rank before the 2nd half of 2025 at the very best.

CBell I cannot stress enough how helpful this series has been to my personal growth in RL. Your breakdown of setting up and approaching air dribbles off the wall, as well as this episodes suggestion to rebind power slide has been a revelation. It's seriously unlocked a level I didn't think I could reach as an aging gamer and has made RL intoxicating again. After seasons struggling in C1, I feel like I've honestly made the breakthroughs I need to finally reach GC. Thank you and thanks to Emmie for this series, it's been inspirational and enlightening in equal amounts!

When I was learning air roll, I couldn't really listen to others' advice. I learned mostly by just doing half rotations through each ring. Go forward to first ring, half air roll and go backwards thru second ring, half air roll, go forwards thru third ring, etc. Also, after each half air roll, you must make some directional input. Just doing that over and over built a good foundation, and eventually you kind of naturally start to do it faster until it becomes a full air roll.

Yeah, RL isn't what it used to be. Nowadays about 1/3 to 1/2 of the matches in the D1-GC1 range, happen with smurfs/alts/boosted accounts, so it's definitely harder to climb than 1, 2 or 3 years before, getting worse with every season... And none of this kind of "coaching series" seems to account for that, hence making them less valid overall.

quick tip that helped me learn full airroll left rings maps quickly: start forward ofc. then do backwards, then sideways then the other side. if you cant do any side, slow to game down to 50% and slightly increase each time ur getting confortable. after that do the same and try to make a random rotation after each ring, sometimes just a quarter tuen, sometimes half, and you can even fit in more if you have the time. and always decrease game speed if you are sturggling and only increase when u get confortable with that speed. after a while you can start to spin more and more... this helped me to get airroll down perfectly in rings maps

The cool thing about Emmie’s journey is that it is very realistic and inspirational. Everyone (I’m guilty as well) is forcing themselves to go for results (read: ranks), but it is about the journey: trying out new things, finding out that things work or don’t work for you, keep trying and realise that you can’t pick up a GC rank just like that. So, actually thanks a lot for letting us wait so long, and thus being so realistic.

I will say that from my own personal experience, keybinds have never really been much of an issue. I still to this day use the og keybinds, aside from air roll right and left of course, and I know for a fact that some of the best players do as well. First killer himself uses them and we all know how good he is. I've managed to achieve the rank of grandchamp with the default keybinds myself, so don't feel pressed if you already have the muscle memory for the defaults to all of a sudden change them. @CbellRL I think it should be good to tell her to unbind DIRECTIONAL and master first NORMAL AIR ROLL properly, directional is not necessary at all. Like you are adding probably 6+months to her training just by this, and it adds so much more complexity and room for errors and new bad habits, overspinning in air, bad non consistent touches etc.. By just using normal default air roll, it will be easier for her, she will be able to focus on one thing, and she will learn faster to get more power on shots both sides, recover faster, move faster on field, and fly proper finally. That is what she needs to focus on to even get to champ. I think it's time to revisit her training a bit, and second thing besides bindings is camera and sensitivity settings. They make huge difference in what you can do in game. For example if I lower sens by 20 and move deadzone up by 0.02 I would not be able to do half of mechanics in controlled way no matter how much I train it doesn't feel right, control is off totally. So experimenting with these on her own in freeplay will help her find what feels the best for her, then when she gets better at mechanics she can tweak these settings to max. Cheers.

Thanks for another great video! Definitely not giving up on her. She'll be better than most of us in no time. I'm curious, do you share the ad-sense income from these videos with Emmie?

Don't feel bad . Got hard stuck in diamond... and after over a year of being stuck I went from playing daily to once a week at most . Last 3 seasons started ranked and peaked at diamond and started to lose interest more and more every season getting the same results and now don't even make rank this season

I struggled for so long to boost and jump, (in ps controller) X and O, and when I changed boost from O to R1, I improved a lot and wasn't so hard to get used to it, before that I changed Powerslide/air roll to L1

i feel the majority of people would love for Emmie to succeed in her all time goal. if anything sometimes you do need to go back with the newly learned key bindings, information on how to play or where to be and start grinding again to get the hang of it. i look forward to yet another coaching vid featuring Emmie.
