This is another of Rumi poems that makes you ponder about Existence as a whole. The more you think the more you appreciate the depth of Rumi philosophy, especially in its original Farsi words.

ایک بھی لفظ سمجھ نہیں آ یا، پر کلام جس عشق سے لکھا اور جس عقیدت سے پڑھا گیا ہے اس نے مکمل طور پر اپنے سحر میں جکڑ لیا ہے۔

Har Lehza Ba shakle Bute Ayyar_ Maulana Jelaluddin Rumi Beautiful murmuring idol came at my door; Entirely astonishing, for all the gorgeous. Every Moment, He arrives in a beautiful sculpture; conquer heart & disappears. Every Moment, that beloved appears in new dress; Sometimes became young, sometimes old. He is the vessel, he is its maker, and he is the clay used to make it; He is the reveler quaffing drinking from it. He too is the one who buys it; breaks it, and left away. Once became Noah & made a world drowned by his prayer; He himself went to the ship. Once he became Abraham and went through the fire; The fire was transformed to a garden because of him. He became Joseph and sent his coat from Egypt; Which illuminated the world. Came out like light from Jacob’s eyes; Then eyes got perfect vision. For some time he was wandering on the earth; For enjoyment. He became Jesus and went to the rotary dome (the sky); Was praying with rosary. No! No! He was Himself! Coming and going; Every century, what you have seen. At end He arrives as an Arab (PBUP) And Became the sovereign of universe. No! No! He was Himself too, who said (Ana Al-Haq) “I’m The Truth” As Mansur al-Hallaj Indeed, He was not Mansur al-Hallaj, who was hanged on wood; Only ignorant think so. Rumi did not deny the truth, nor he do; He is not disbeliever. Disbeliever was he, who denied the truth (Satan); & become accursed..... I noticed quite a few mistakes in the interpretation as well as the original text and have taken the liberty to provide below a more accurate translation: • Har lahza ba shak-laa(n) butey ayyar baramad, dil burd nihan shud In an instant the sly shapeshifter appeared, stealing heart and then disappears • Har dam ba libas-e, digar aan yaar baramad, geh peero jawan shud Always in various disguises our friend appears, as a youngster or as an elder • Khud kooza-o khud kooza-gar-o khud giley kooza, khud rind-e subu kash He is the pot, the potter and the clay of the pot, he himself is the drinker of the pot • Khud barsar-e aan kooza khareedaar baramad, be-shikast ravan shud He himself appears as the buyer of the pot, smashes it and leaves disappearing • Ney ney ke hamu bood ke mi aamad-o mi raft, har qarn ke deedey No no, it was him who kept appearing and disappearing, as witnessed by every age • Ta aaqi-bat-aan shakal-e-arab waar baramad, daraey jahan shud Until at last he appeared in the form of an Arab, holding the universe in his palm • Ney ney ke hamu bood ke mi guft-ul-anal-haq, dar soorat-e-mansoor No no, it was him who said "I am the Truth", disguised as Mansoor (aided by God) • Mansoor naboo-daan ke bar-aan daar baramad, nadan ba guman shud But it wasn't Mansoor who was crucified, though that's what the ignorant believe • Rumi sukhan-e-kufr na-guft-ast-o nago yad, munkir nasho-e-dash Rumi neither listens to kufr nor speaks it, a munkir he is not • Kaafir shaw-da-aan kas ke ba inkar-e-baramad, mardood-e-jahan shud It's the kaafir who presents denial when asked, for indeed condemned he is
