In today's farm episode MC went to a local chicken breeder or hatchery and bought some new farm pets, aka pet chickens, & the chicks or chicken breeds she got were types of chickens that lay colored eggs. We already have the ameraucana chicken breed, but she wanted a type of chicken that would lay blue eggs, and so she got some cream legbars, & blue bells chicks, & also she got 2 types of heritage breed chickens that lay the super large dark brown eggs, which are the blue copper marans & splash marans. Also her best frined, not a chicken, traded her 2 olive eggers, who of course lay olive colored eggs, for 2 bantam chickens, cochins, that MC no longer wanted.
I know we have a lot of chickens on our farm, almost could say we are a bonafide hen farm, but MC loves her pet chickens, & chickens are some of the best farm animals for kids.
Also Emu Egg update, we are not 100% certain if the Emu eggs are fertile, but fingers crossed. That being said, MC swears she's heard the Emus peeping through the egg, bt since the eggs are so large & so dark, we are unable to candle the eggs, but fingers crossed!
