Same. Even though before peacocks were discovered, they associated her with crows. She still could've had a few peacocks around her. Maybe it was a aesthetic design choice? Also sorry if you already knew that, just sharing my thoughts.

I was kinda thinking the same thing. Crows (or rather ravens) are more closely associated with Odin, the king of the Norse pantheon. Why they'd associate the symbol of a Norse deity with a Greek one is beyond me.

I feel the sypathy for Hera. Zeus is a well known asshole, so it is quite understandable if Hera finally succumbs to the jealousy and anger. It is worth mentioning that this is an American iteration. It may portrait the characters very differently, and people might not like it (Hera). The artstyle is gorgeous tho.

Before anyone says it, of course she wasn't the only god to do so - but she belonged to that unique class of gods who did it out of pure spite. She ruined Herakles' life, had him driven insane so that he killed his wife and children and was basically indentured for years to atone, then tricked his new wife into giving him a coat dipped in poison that fused to his flesh and killed him. She also stirred up shit during the Trojan War because Paris awarded the "fairest of all" prize to Aphrodite instead of her. Hera was definitely humiliated by Zeus's many terrible infidelities, especially because she was goddess of marriage vows. But she was also a Grade A asshole, just like her dear old dad.

It was Nossos, her rapist, who tricked her and, at least in one version, Aphrodite taught the centaur what to do because she wanted to punish Herakles for having the hots for Adonis. She ruined lives out of pure spite? Lol, as opposed to who? Apollo and Artemis who slaughtered a bunch of children to punish their mother? Aphrodite who made six men rape their mother to punish them or made a woman fall in love with her stepson, accuse him of rape and kill herself because that dude didn't want to fuck and Aphrodite found that offensive? Poseidon who flooded a city and inflicted another with drought because he wasn't chosen as their patron god? Hephaistos who cursed Harmonia for being Aphrodite's daughter? She got involved and stirred shit in the Trojan war... you mean, exactly like Athene and almost every other Olympian? As for her dad, he was by all accounts a chill dude and a great king, whose only fault was having a perhaps excessive amount of self-preservation.

I understand that the reason why zeus always get to escape her wrath is because zeus is more powerful, king of the Gods and Hera is in love with him. Cheating mortal husbands do not get the same circumstances so i think they would probably get Hera's misdirected anger towards zeus even more.

I always say her as the “evil wife of the king” archetype. She just cares about power and jealousy and having the prefect family to keep a high level of pride among Gods. She is meant to show the ugly side of marriage and motherhood in the original myths I think

On one side, Zeus had a wife who is legit the goddess of marriage and is always loyal to him, but neglects that by sleeping with many women. On the other, we have Hera who discriminates every other god-child that’s not hers and triggered a war of the gods and ancestral beings that they barely survived from because she found out she was being cheated on.

It's a lot deeper than that my friend. She not mad at Zeus just for his constant infidelities, but how his actions constantly humiliate and disrespect her. She is the queen of gods, and the fact that he cheats on her shows that he cares less about her pride, authority, majesty and dignity. His actions show that he has no love and no respect for her as a queen and a wife. The true source of her rage within, which is being projected as pettiness and jealousy on the outside, is a deep sense of sorrow and betrayal. I agree she takes her wrath out on the wrong people but she is constantly forbidden to punish Zeus who is the almighty king of gods and her husband. This cycle would continue for centuries. Because of this cycle of violence and injustice against the innocent party, Hera is in this constant pit of frustration, rage and despair. What Blood of Zeus is showing is that Hera as finally had enough and wants to end it all.

@@thalmoragent9344 That the whole point. This is Hera's tragedy. Centuries of anger and heartbreak can drive someone into that kind of madness. Plus she is a God, and gods feel things far more intense than mortals. She and every other god in the pantheon, are anthromorothic/flawed. Heightened emotions means heightened DRAMA. The show followed the trope that follows Hera though the myths and at the same time making it more nuanced. Her anger and spite were riding high and it took her too far. But Zeus's sacrifice was able to dissolve the anger and replaced it with empathy and remorse. For Hera's tragedy at the end of the story was simply " Zeus shall suffer my wrath and all he holds dear!" and then right into "Oh my god! What have I done?!" That there is greek tragedy.

I can't be the only one who thinks hera isn't 100% wrong. Zeus is the king, yes right. The 'blood of zeus' series is also exactly about the father-son relationship and makes hera unfair. She is strong and dynamic, most importantly she never cheated on her husband. This animation was nice, but I am sick of with this man power. Hera was shown unfairly, -the mother of nature, demeter, maybe we saw her shadow.- Artemis, who was standing behind the other gods with a tearful face, was also pushed aside. Man, Athena wasn't even around.

Demeter stood behind Hera in the fight, Artemis fought alongside with Zeus and he was kind to Heron! Athena was around, she was the woman in the grey armor. She was fighting for his father.

I do not agree! I'm happy to finally see a series that portrays a character in many facets and not putting her on a pedestal to validate a feminist cause! Hera was betrayed and hurt, but her reaction is absurdly disproportionate! She's mean and vindictive and I liked that that was evident to the audience. They didn't want to excuse her, but they showed a multifaceted character with a relentless nature! In addition to being an antagonist equal to Zeus! I'm glad, because that's how a good story is made! Enough with the pamphleteering clichés! We want compelling characters!

@@lucayoung_ I guess I was misunderstood. First of all, I also liked the animation and the characters, I should mention that. and I meant I love hera in mythology. I think she's strong and has good stories. I just felt that in this animation, hera was being tried to be shown as the bad guy. yes, in some of hera stories, she may seem harsh and cruel, but we do not have any information that she is exactly a bad person. I didn't like that, this character, which we can call an anti-hero, is trying to be portrayed as the villain. The disproportionateness of her reactions may also be due to this excessive effort of producers. I say that, they wanted to make zeus heroic and hera bad. but we can call them neither good nor bad, right? I would also like other goddesess to be in the foreground more. my opinion. Also I am done with the cliches and I want compelling characters, so I agree with you.

Don't know why they didn't include Athena yet she is literally the heiress to Zeus. She's not even shown in the first giants vs gods battle. Not to mention that she's one of the most powerful Olympians and she's the only one that stood against Typhoon with Zeus.

I don't really like how Hera is portrayed as a non-caring cold bitch in the show. Sure, she's jealous and revengeful but to the point to risk to release the ancestral ennemies of the gods? at least, they could have leave her as the one who save Seraphim from the bear, that would have show another side of her. Also, as goddess of marriage, family and fécondity, that would have make sense that she also protect children... as long as their are not the bastards of her husband.

This is probably my all time favorite version of Hera in any medium. She is sympathetic, passionate, cunning, sometimes cruel & strong-willed. Not only that, but her powers remind me of a combination between Jean Grey & Wonder Woman.

I presume it's Aphrodite's punishment for them for forcing her to marry Hephaistos and being humiliated by him. From the start Aphrodite's presence in Olympus was a threat for Hera for she brought love and grace among the gods. Maybe Hera is a queen but Aphrodite is the queen of hearts and sky since she was the daughter of Uranus. But luckily the goddess of love did not has desire for such power. Remember what Aphrodite told to Helen in the Iliad that she can turned everyone against each other and that would be the cause of Helen's death.

I dunno but I want the camera to be focused/nearer on her face when she said "And who's gonna stop me? You?" then you're gonna see her emotions through her facial expressions. Her mood darkens and her lips were way more forceful as she say those words. Its just more impactful. Anyway, I love her design.

I remember as a child when they taught us all those myths about the illegitimate children of Zeus, from Hercules and Perseus, to Apollo and Artemis, I always thought of Hera as the bad wife who's just jealous of her husband. However, know that I'm quite older I really understand were all this need for revenge comes from, the poor woman was desperate and sad about her husband's infidelity... And to think I considered Zeus as a cool god... He couldn't keep it in his pants at all...

If you remember in the show, the gods are not suppose to "interfere" with mortals. Their lives are at the hands of the Fates. Zeus made this law for other gods to follow and yet he interferes for his personal reasons. He's a hypocrite.

I’ve always hated Hera in all forms of Greek mythology but her design here is phenomenal and I like how they put her powers on display. She’s absolutely justified for being angry at Zeus but throughout the mythos the way she’s cursed mortals & killed children because of her husbands actions is just absurd to me.
