It's possible to be good at a build order and quick walling but have no understanding of the game!

@@SirQuantizationTrue. It’s generally better to be slower to age but better at strategy. It doesn’t matter if you have the 100% perfect fast castle build order if you don’t know what you’re going to do with said fast castle.

After seeing Mr Planner / Mr Slow games, I came back to AoE2 from a 3 month detox... and I kind of feel there's less of that now. It used to be 1k would get perfect BOs and QuickWalls, which is insane for the level... and I ended up being slaughtered... but the last few games have been enjoyable, back and forth, LEL mistakes from both sides...

Yea that is common for newer players. Learning build orders but don't know what to do under pressure. Switch to Black Forest in that case and continue getting good at the build order. In my opinion.... Later on learn tower rushes, archer rushes, etc. Fast castle into knights. I think the easiest to learn is tower rush. You can even add some archers to the tower rush to protect the villagers. To tower rush, you really don't need that many on stone either. Because just a few towers in key spots can set them back a lot. Especially if you don't sink too much into towers, and still plan on going castle age quickly for a castle drop. When I was learning rush strategies, the tower rush was the easiest for me I think because it gives the enemy a target which is my towers, not my base. Its a mental thing, that makes them think they have to get rid of the towers before attacking you. If you castle drop after that, they'll probably just resign. That was my first noob rush strategy. Easy to pull off, and pretty fun

I am at 800 elo and do a perfect dark age, strat and quick walling .. but that doesn't really matter since opponents play the same ..,

Thousands of games played that's how, same thing as when you watch ballet dancers and all their moves look effortlessly fluid even though they are hard as hell: they trained them for countless hours ! Hera is a dancer of AoE2, everything is fluid and looks easy but when you try you realise how hard it really is 😅

​@packmanbp Partly agree but then again there's me with 1700 games played and I'm still 1200 elo 😭 and then you get players like ciskhan who jumps into the scene and gets 2300 elo like no big deal.

I think if the dude comes from Warcraft or Starcraft he only has to adapt his already existing skill to different variables 🤷 Also I'm in your camp man, don't have the time to play much but if I ever reach 1.2k it will be an accomplishment 😅

Most players that elo stick to only one order or trick thats why they r stuck usually

around 1k elo is inconsistent beacuse its around starting elo, there is really underperforming and overperforming players, annd some of them are that elo because of one tricking

Indeed, my experience around 900-1000 is way tougher than this opponent

100% At 900 elo, I get all kinds of counters to counters, scout rushes, etc... But, you also get very new players who you just wipe the floor with.

I just commented about this. Its true this dude has 1000 elo but only because it was literally one of his first matches ranked in his lifetime. Hera is not doing anything wrong he is just queeing up but because his acc is absolute fresh the elo doesnt know if hes actually a 1000k elo player so he also gets absolute fresh players and not every fresh acc is a smurf like.. well.. him 😅 so when you play at 1k elo and me where we both already have idk a couple 100 games its a "real" 1k elo match. At my level people know how to fish boom sometimes, how to lure boar, how to lure deer, how to wall, how to build towers to defend, they know they have to follow a build order, they know they need army early etc etc etc. Its not like 1k elo players are garbage and dont know anything about the game.. its just the game starts you there so sometimes people still need to find their elo

like another commentor said, people are crazy at this elo. Some people know FC to their absolute heart as Portuguese/Burgundians and completely overwhelm you as soon as 15min into the game.

you should be fluent in mandarin, arabic and english, thats all u need

u can use that if u want, or u can jump right into ladder, its up to u. Extreme AI is around 1000-1100 ELO

I jumped in when I could beat moderate - I still had fun. Extreme AI is easy to beat for me now

@@HeraAgeofEmpires2 Well i guess that people who dislike a specific thing would be more vocal about it than people who like a specific thing, coz the latter would just say "i love this video thanks". But i see you did consider both options and the video is great nevertheless!

I often think the same when watching other players around my elo, because the players sometimes do stuff worse at which I am good for my elo, but I think one often overlooks one's own weeknesses. That being said I think you are right , because I think Hera might not have finished all his placement games for the road to 2k account the opponent's elo is a bit lower than Hera's (the opponent seems to have peaked around 1k and used to be around 950 elo)

He was holding back - didn't even block the villagers with his scout which is common at 900 elo
