Herb has one of the most distinctive voices in the business. Having heard, met, and argued for his cause, I can only say that the world is better for his presence. The most humble member of his generation.

One of my all time favorite songs. Great CD. Herb is one of the greatest. Really like him and Chris Hillman. Desert Rose Band was great. But again, this song really gets to me. It is just so damn good.

I've been a lifelong admirer of Herb Pedersen but only once got to see him in concert--at the Cactus Cafe in Austin, with Chris Hillman. They clearly have a lifelong bond of playing music together. I was slightly behind their generation and by the time I got to Nashville, you had to be wearng a skirt to get a gig as a fiddler, so I had to move to a different career. But I still pay dues, an homage to what I first loved.

Pedersen is a legend in his time. During his involvement with the Eagles, while part of the backup band for Linda Ronstadt, in the mid 70's, he was hardly recognized. That goes for Kenny Edwards, JD Souther, Russ Kunkle, and Andrew Gold, as well. The only one missing from Linda's backup was Randy Meisner... but I digress. Sandman and Southwest have been sadly overlooked up until around the turn of the century. The good news is: around 2010, he has gained just a little bit of the recognition that he richly deserves from the general audience. Long Live Linda!

In my opinion, Herb is one of the greatest American singers and musicians of all time. Amazing catalog. Excellent song writer, too. Based on an hour or so I spent with him and Chris Hillman backstage at a music festival some years ago, I 'd also say he's a very nice down to earth gentleman. I could listen to his music all day and all night

So the Rolling Stones covered this 50+ years ago on a B-side of something else and it's been playing in the back of my mind ever since. (Every time someone says "Wait a minuter" I sing the first line of this song). I'd love to own this Chris Peterson album, though...

great version by the author of this great song. i would hate to guess how many time this song has been recorded. the first release was in 1974 by johnny rivers. it is a good country music version that i enjoy. the seldom scene released their great version in 1974 on the old train album. i think my favorite version is the seldom scene recording on the tommy hunter show with john duffey singing lead. i love duffey's high tenor and the great harmony on that version. if you ask me next week, i may have another favorite version. you know how that goes. mood and which one did you hear last.

I like this version, but I like John Starling singing lead and John Duffey singing this in B the best. Not a criticism of a great song, the Seldom Scene took this song to heart.....................and it became their most requested song. Had I written it, I would consider that a compliment of the highest sort. Sometimes the writer just plants a seed.
