hi Anne! i learned a lot from your video. help pls. my sister has never dyed her hair before but now wants to. she is in her forties and has quite a bit of white hairs already. maybe 20 or 10 percent? should she get the soft black or the dark chestnut? will the white go away even if it's a chestnut color? thank you so much!

Hello, sorry for the late response. For me, both shades work as I guess given my original hair color. Have her try dark chestnut first if she prefers a lighter shade. What's her current shade?

@@OnigiriLove Oh I see, try dark chestnut first. I'm currently using the lighter one though. This brand isn't hard to mix and match as well.

I do not want to use harsh chemicals or hair loss. I will use that. Hair salon hair dye is waaay too harsh even though they say it is good quality.

Yes, works best on virgin hair.

It says not to wash hair before applying but I feel like I have to to get out color spray I’ve been using to get by until coloring. Do you think that’s a big deal?

No biggie. But you could probably not use hairspray next time you use it.

That definitely makes sense :) There are a couple reasons to not wash hair before color. One, it stimulates the scalp and could increase chance for a reaction, or so my stylist says. Two, the natural oil on your scalp is beneficial to keep during the coloring process, (not like a weeks worth of greasy hair, just at least one or two days.) It's probably best to skip the color spray, as well as too many styling products when you know you will be coloring your hair before the next shampoo.
