Disney's The Love Bug was released on March 13, 1969. This weekend, the Love Bug is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the original movie release. What better way to celebrate than with 30 Herbie the Love Bug Volkswagen Bugs and Beetles on parade at Old Town in Kissimmee, Florida.

Seriously I know. I remember watching Herbie since i was a kid. These are the movies I grew up with. Love them so much

My mother had a candy apple red 1967 Wolfsberg edition beetle with the Porsche engine and suspension. Any day that was 42 degrees and humid meant a stall at every stop sign. No problem for her as she knew how to do a slingshot-clutch-pop to keep the engine going. Sometimes taking me to school she'd pop the clutch to get her started if the batter was dead from the cold. That involved putting it in reverse and rolling the car backwards down the driveway. Once she did that when the car was backed in the driveway and the old habit of putting in reverse gear gave her one speed forward and and four in reverse. Should not have been possible but it happened and made her day ;)

I love how something can just spark some amazing memories from childhood. A sight, a smell or just seeing a car can bring back how we grew up. Great story. Thanks as always for sharing!

Pretty nifty!! Saw "The Love Bug" 1st time around in theaters! Who knew there were so many Herbies?? What's even weirder, I was lead to this video from a non-youtube site, kzfaq.info/get/bejne/sJ6YZZVnrpamcmg.html , a few ours before I watched Robs!!
