I found this abandoned air-ranch listed on Zillow while we were walking around a used auto part flea market. I showed the listing to the wife but the wife wasn't hearing it! How could she be so mean? I had just bought her a hot dog. She calmly explained: "We don't have the money and it's in the middle of nowhere!" I said: "It just dropped to $399K from $1M!" It was a Sunday afternoon and I was feeling impulsive so I told her I would buy her Mexican food if she just rode along with me to look at it. I said let's just look at it from the road, just for fun, and we we definitely wont buy it. She reluctantly agreed while she looked up Mexican food restaurant reviews on her phone and I drove in silence to avoid messing up the deal.
Four hours later we were on a dirt road in front of a barbed-wire fence. I opened the door of her little black Jeep and let the wife out to get a feel for the area. We didn't dare cross the fence for fear of being shot (you don't do that in the desert!). So we walked the perimeter and she made no expression of happiness or dismay at me. I kept my mouth shut and we drove to get her a Chimi and me some tacos. We drove home and I didn't push the issue.... much.
The next morning she woke up and said "I want that house!" I called my realtor (my brother's wife) and asked about a showing. The news was bad, the selling agent was booked-up since the price-cut and didn't have a showing for at least a week! She mentioned that it would most likely sell this week since her phone was ringing off the hook. The wife and I looked though the listing photos again and I picked up the phone and asked Liz (my realtor) to make a cash offer. I knew the property was in disrepair by the photos and no bank would want to finance it. The selling agent called Liz and said she had an opening for a showing later the same day. It was noon on Monday and the showing was at 3. A quick check of maps showed the drive-time to be just under 4 hours.
The Uniden R3 (Link in the description) showed no Smokey Bears as it hung in the windshield of the Jeep by it's freshly spit-wet suction cup. We were flying at exactly the speed limit towards the ranch. I had a 3 hour drive and that was good, I needed the time to think. See, I knew that a cash offer gave us an advantage in the offer pile. The only problem was we didn't have the cash! It was just the wife and I in the Jeep, the wind noise was terrible as was the hum of the KO2s threatening to send their tread into orbit.
We got to the front gate, my agent couldn't make it to the showing (stupid Liz, she had 45 min notice) so we were going to meet with the selling agent. Already at the gate was another black Jeep, in the ugly Jeep was a guy and gal waiting for their showing. It turns out we had made good time. We drove a quarter mile down the road to wait our turn while the two crooks wandered around my house! I hated them! The wife told me to calm down, I picked up a handful of sand and let it run through my fingers.
When we saw the stupid black Jeep pulled out of the drive way it was our turn. I thought about selling my Jeep because they just aren't cool as I drove up to the house. The realtor was great, we walked the property and we saw it needed ton's of repairs. Well, this should probably be a video of it's own. Long story short we sold our Jet-skis, my Pathfinder, cashed in retirement, and used whatever money I had from selling my business and we closed... this is that story, enjoy!

Well I know exactly where you are. When I was little, 1994/1995 years, my grandpa flew me and my grandma there. My grandpa was an engineer. Iirc, there are 2 wells on your property, not one. The original well was in the upper northwest corner. I believe it was sealed off before my summer vacation was over. It wasn't deep enough, as there was a large rock segment in the way, kept running dry. I would have a talk with the northern Arizona fire district about helping with the maintenance of the airfield, in exchange for them using it, possibly for training or actual fire suppression. Ok, its not my place to give hints or location, so I'm staying vague to protect ya'lls privacy. So if anyone asks me, you're in Guam. Personally what I would do 1st is seal the house up from critters, and get yourself a UV/Black light, to check for scorpions. Next I would strip the barn of panels, and use it to fix the rest of the out buildings. Then I would clear a space in a large circle, and using the "cone" as a sun dial. Next I would clean up around the out buildings, so critters cannot hide so close by. Next I would check the 2 fan shrouds that are stacked on top of each other, the "trash can", and see how much water its holding, as it looks like the rain gutter is dumping into it. For every 1" of rain on a 10'x10' (100 sq ft) roof, you can save 62.5 gallons of water. You can then use that water for fire suppression, gardening, personal water use with a filter inline, or even wash your vehicles, and spray lightly to reduce airborne dust. You have so much you can possibly do, though I'll miss the bomb shelter build. I hope you enjoy your new home with the absolutely beautiful views. I cannot wait to see your next episode.

The opportunity for content creation with your property is almost endless. Getting the golf cart running to use as a runabout will save a little wear and tear on the jeep. Not only did you buy the property, but a small fleet of aircraft came with it, and of course, the obligatory mini-van. I'm really looking forward to the workshop tour and discovering all the tools you now have available.

Does ownership of those planes and vehicle automatically change hands to new owner or is there extra paperwork to change names ?
@admiralrustyshackleford119
@admiralrustyshackleford119 Ай бұрын
@@wonniewarrior No idea how it works with planes. But for the vehicle if you wanted to drive it on public roads you'd have to get a title for it. If the previous owner has the title they can sign it over, if the previous owner and/or title are nowhere to be found then there's a pile of paperwork involved in proving ownership to get plates and insurance for it. That is of course if you wanted to use it as a regular vehicle on public roads. If you just wanna use it as a utility vehicle around on your land and not take down public roads then no paperwork involved. Really just comes down to is the vehicle worth putting the money and effort into getting it road legal, or it better used for bombing around out in the desert and keeping some wear and tear off of the daily family vehicles. I delt with something similar buying my old farm house and several acres in Iowa. Previous owner passed and left all kinds several vehicles and pieces of equipment behind.

And looks like that 2nd hangar has a generator sitting right there on the floor - if so, might be your welding power source! Here’s another idea; not sure if you plan to sell the old place, rent it out, or keep it.. in all scenarios, you need to move your “shop” with all of your tools, etc, to the new place. one way to do it, is, to buy an extra conex or two, have them delivered to the old place, load them up, then have them picked up and brought to your new place.. since you own them, there’s no rush to empty them out.. you could also use the ones you have being used for walls on the double tent hangar, but I suspect they are already packed with “stuff” plus anchoring the tents. your going to need all of your tools & equipment to work on the air ranch.. there is also getting all of your house furniture moved to the air ranch, but a moving company could do that. The places that rent/sell the conexes have big 40’ ramp trucks that they can winch on, and unload the same way.. you just can’t completly load it up, they have weight limits.
@willong1000
@willong1000 26 күн бұрын
I don't disagree with you, but I have another suggestion to consider. While deals still occasionally show up on shipping containers, they are getting much harder to find for a good price and loaded moves can be problematic. I've bought several roadworthy dry vans and several Conex boxes since 2019. Best deal on a 40' high cube in good shape except for two bent hinges was about $1300 before having it hauled to its current location for temporary storage. Empty, I can move myself later after a challenging loading process onto a 40' gooseneck flatbed. However, the best deals I've found for the kind of usage you are talking about--and maybe I shouldn't even reveal this for fear of bumping up the prices when others catch on--are reefer vans on which the refrigerator units have quit working and/or are near the end of their fleet service life. If tires, lights, brakes, and kingpin will pass a mechanic's certification, any Class A hauler can move them. For $2700, I recently picked up a 48-footer with double swing doors on the rear, and two swing doors on the curbside, and one of those is equipped with a lift. The nice thing about the reefer van is it is built much stouter than the typical dry van, is fully insulated, and is already equipped with interior lights. Originally, I was just going to use it for temporary storage too, but I changed my mind when I saw how well-built it is. The floor is fully welded aluminum U-channels alternating up and down to produce a floor that allows cold air to circulate around the cargo. That also makes a floor that can be washed out and the water will flow out through drains that are located in all the corners. I'm now planning to outfit it as a shop that I can have hauled to a rural property I own and be ready to start working on the place as soon as it is parked there. I was going to move the tools anyhow; might as well do it with them already bolted in place and ready to work!

I'm happy for you! I grew up in Kingman. You bought a piece of western history. My people were best friends with the ranchers who owned that land. We use to see horse herds, and cattle running that land. It's sad to see it all chopped up, but you seem to be a great couple, I am glad you acquired 150 acres of it. Congratulations.

Loved the tour. Much fun, more work. Most important was the big reveal that you're not 12, anymore... Such good acting, I was convinced otherwise. Even without the pop tarts. Watching your channel is more addicting than sugar, but less fattening, and maybe a little healthier. What are you going to call it? Burning man is already taken... Mmm, they come for a party, but forced to work.

love you’re going “All in” on KZfaq, you have YEARS of content fixing up the air ranch ✅ I still suggest figuring out what’s essential, such as water & shelter, and focusing on those projects first.. then you can at least live their without having to leave for essentials 😉 BTW, was thinking if you’re in the middle of nowhere, Internet access will be very important, especially since you’ll need to upload more often, 2 providers come to mind, if you’re in range of T-Mobile, they have their “Home Internet Service” for $50/month, the other is of course SpaceX’s StarLink, they just lowered the equipment cost to $299 (from $599), the monthly service is higher, however, it’s much faster and more reliable than T-Mobile ✅

I'm wondering if you thought about the wind that ripped the doors off and made it necessary to put heavy objects on the roof to keep it from flying away.... You might want to get Rattlesnake shots for your dog... it lessens the reaction to the venom and gives you time to get the dog to a Vet for anti-venom shots. You might want to locate the closest Vet so you are prepared and not looking for a Vet after an incident... same for yourself and a hospital that has anti-vernom... also if you or the Dog does get bitten either get a picture of the snake or bring it along to the Dr for identification... with it's head removed. The anti-venom can be specific to the sub species of Rattlesnake. My friend almost lost his arm because of a bite on his hand... his whole arm turned black and it nearly killed him. He was an experienced Rattlesnake handler and he sold venom to a research lab. He quit after being bitten. Also... just a tip... buy some gloves and wear them when reaching into things and picking up things... there are more dangers than just venomous snakes. High top leather boots are also a wise move. A pair of needle nose pliers are handy to have in your pocket for removing cactus spines. In the desert Rattlesnakes are drawn to 3 things: food (mice), water and shelter from the sun or cold . You can reduce the odds of encountering a Rattlesnake by making the environment less attractive to them. they do tend to shy away from areas with a lot of activity but that is no guarantee if they are looking for those 3 things..... Good luck. I think you're going to need it.

Our ranch vet said the rattlesnake shots are hit or miss. However the rattlesnake training you can get around these parts seems to work well. Costs about $100. We watched one of our dogs die from rattlesnake bite and it's horrible to say the least. The tip about getting a vet is a must. This area they won't see you, even in an emergency, unless you have established a relationship.

Well because I am Australian, I must say do not underestimate those bloody snakes. I have personally watched 3 of my dogs die from snake bite over the years. My next door neighbor lost his dog only last summer to a big Tiger Snake. Even a baby snake will kill a dog. Our defense is to keep the yards clean, no debris laying around the house and keep pet water bowls to a minimum. Oh yeah, and we live in suburbia. Everything in Australia is protected, even snakes. (not in my yard)

Yeah the Mojave desert has some truly awful rattlesnakes. Thankfully we can just shoot the damn things on sight, no protections for the little killers whatsoever. The coyotes are also dog killers and then of course there's the mountain lions. The cougars will happily kill large dogs, kids and even smaller adult women. Both the yotes and lions will then dismember their prey, so if anybody ever finds you it'll be in pieces scattered across the desert. Oh and then there's the spiders, we got two varieties: big and harmless (the tarantulas); then big lethal (black widows, brown recluses, and a few others). Us Mojave residents and you aussies have a lot in common when it comes to wildlife, feel free to come visit. Cheers!

Normally or quite often vehicles on large blocks were running untill the battery went flat or the owner stopped using it. Best to find out how to lift the blade before getting the grader running. Plane and large caravan are possibly worth some money. Plane might increase in value if cleaned up and engines run. Hopefully the shed needing roof iron on roof and walls get it screwed back on. Good video. 😊

I think I saw the grader blade was already chained in the "UP" position. That could mean a possible hydraulic issue. He's got plenty of garage space to work on it but towing that inside is another story....that Jeep won't move it.

Congratulations I like the property it has lots of potential. First off you shouldn't get that greater looked at by heavy equipment repair guy. It looks like you got two possible plans the ERCOUPE 415-C that one is still certified until 20:30. the beachcraft Bonanza looks nice too I didn't see n number on the fuselage did you check the containers at that second building there must be a lot of stuff in that plus you have all that other aircraft Parts and Equipment that really needs to be gone through really carefully I bet you have lots of replacements for the Bonanza and the 415c. And a good thing is if you have spring water and those water tanks and you can keep them full man I would put up a couple nice big heavy duty enclosed hot houses especially if you're getting a lot of sun there and you have lots of water you can grow really good but that excavator is wonderful because you can get running you can keep your runways in good shape and all your roads after it rains really cool

Lots of extra stuff... Tools, planes, rv, vehicle. Is that twin rudder plane an Ercoupe? Can only imagine what little treasures are stored in those containers. A DeLorean would be nice. Even though that solar panel may be cracked, it may still put out some power. Looks like some uni-strut & a cover shed to protect the electronics & pump. Probably should get the well water tested for purity, minerals, etc. About how far is that train? Hard to tell with the camera viewpoint. Is the horn loud at your place? Looks like a nice place to mount a security camera to view the property. Probably up on the upper tank just to get a bit higher view. Speaking of cams. OWL CAM! A trail cam up by the nest would probably increase some site views. The place

I can't believe you just did that, *just can't believe it!!* You drove onto the runway *WITHOUT* a taxi clearance and then you compounded your error by racing down the crosswind runway and *DIDN'T* get a clearance to cross the active. 😲🤦‍♂ The old joke about how to make a small fortune in aviation, start with a big one, sure comes to mind here. So much potential but so much mulla needed. Don't forget you need a control tower and *then* you'll be a real airport. 👍👍

The tour was great! ! The potential for all kinds of income as well as hobby interests is huge!! The grader is a tool that put in the right hands is remarkable it will amaze you what it can achieve. A paddel scraper is what you would use to move the majority of the dirt needed to fill the low area's .trying to consolidate the drainage and pass it thru a culvert pipe will eliminate the constant need for dirt work and using cotton seed oil will bind the fines to the larger grit and what fine gravel is present.both runways appear to be well placed and will conform to VFR with very little expense. Ie wind socks runway markers taxi way markers ect. Get the head of that solar controller boltedb
