I thought I'd dislike the screen on dash but I think it makes the car look more upscale

I am able to fit a ton of items inside my 2016 hatchback(3 adult sized bikes) but I do see where people could say the hatch angle makes it more difficult for objects that can't be adjusted like a bike. The gen1 styling is timeless to me, almost looks better than gen3. I would love to see skyactiv integrated into that body style.

I own 3 S Touring Sedan and love it. I do mostly town driving and usually average 32 or 33 mpg per tank, so I'm very happy with that. The engine is plenty quick. Push the Sport button and hit the gas and the car leaps forward. I find the interior very comfortable and don't mind the way the screen looks at all. Mercedes and Audi place their screens like this as well, so it's not like Mazda is being all wacky. The road noise on the highway is certainly the car's worst feature, but the VW Golf and Honda Civic aren't any quieter. The only other thing that bothers me is that not all the buttons/switches are lit at night including the door lock/unlock button which was a silly cost cutting measure. Hopefully they fixed that in the newly redesigned 2017 model. I also am surprised that automatic headlights were not included in the S Touring. I had this in my last Mazda and I'm having trouble re-learning to turn my headlights on and off. Overall though, this car is so much better than anything else in it's class. I test drove Corolla, Focus, Forte, and Golf (the new Civic wasn't out yet)

Would car noise change if you go with a automatic instead of manual, or if you're getting the sedan instead of the hatchback? I've watched a few 2016 Mazda3 reviews and the loud noise complaints are only with the manuals or hatchbacks.

I LOVE mine! The only thing I hate is there's no mute button on the steering wheel. My 04 Mazda even had a mute button. I hate fishing for the mute button on the panel next to the joy stick.

It will sound odd, but I am coming from a 2015 BMW M3 I owned since new to a 2018 5 door Grand Touring. I was very surprised with how quiet it is on the highway. If I didn't have a sunroof I bet it would be very quiet, that is the only spot of wind noise I can detect. Seats are a bit soft and narrow, but moderately decent. Rear legroom is pretty terrible, my daughter who is 5'6" can't really fit. I'm averaging 28-29 mpg all highway for the most part. My car has 4500 miles, I doubt it will break in further to give me much better mileage. I guess you can call it sporty, but meh, my definition of sporty is way different. I think it's slower than dirt, but it's all about perspective. I bought this because it's the only "drivers" car in the segment with a manual and playfulness you aren't going to get from the other japanese manufacturers. I put to many miles on daily to consider much else. I wish I had the parchment leather though. Black is way to ordinary.

We have the 09 4-door and agree the noise was bad. When we put a good set of all-season touring tires on, the noise level dropped significantly.

I have the 2016 sport hatch, and the suspension is just obnoxious in wyoming with our crappy roads. Not necessarily the cars fault, but still annoying. I loved the pandora option where i can go through all of my stations on the infotainment system.

1. Gear Box shifting with a good sporty handling. Fast around corners 2. Nice interior/ exterior design. 3. Head up display Dislikes: 1. Small gas tank imho 2. Automatic window only for the driver window ... seriously? 3. Small windows back / claustrophobic feeling / leg space All around really happy with my Mazda 3

sic22l I'll have to test drive a new 3 when I have a chance. I'm driving a 2000 Jetta TDI, I would think something newer would be quieter. But, you never know.

MrNewlife1968 Not necessarily. You Jetta has pretty loud engine, Mazda has different problem. At 70 you feel like one of the windows wasn't fully closed.

Yea they have corrected some of the issues in the 2017. Tho the video is about the 2016. They tightened some of the gaps, added more sound dead, adj the shocks, other little improvements including the new G-vectoring.

Here's my top 3 likes and dislike after owning Canadian spec Mazda 3Sport GT 2.5L model for 2.5 years. Like #1: I really like the sport tuned suspension( the driving dynamics and fund to drive/interior design styled like European and sporty exterior looks #2: Navi is easy to use and its a touch screen #3: Overall the car is still very solid , no plastic flexing noise from general driving and turns. Dislike #1: Center 12V plug stays on even the car is fully shut off. Bad if you have dash cam or phone charger connected to it all the time. And most importantly back seats leg room and space, its tight and small #2: Lot of small issue in the early models, suspension clunking, gps freeze (always crash), front dash noise, static sound thru the speakers, paint rust at the rear hatch area etc. #3: 2.5L engine not so good on mpg compare to 2.0L (like big different from a 2.0L) and road noise with all model. Stock dunlop SP5000 tires is garbage. it slips on dry pavement lol. Barely any grip under wet condition.
