Good on you. I just watched a guy walking around his field and talking about his cows. What's more, it was interesting. Used to camp on a farm in the Welsh mountains when I was a boy. Never had happier times. Wish I had a few acres right now, I can tell you. I'd be late for work every day... messing around on my "farm" in the mornings, feeding a few chickens, pigs, goats and what not. Still, the kids I teach would like my little videos...perhaps.

Hi Greg just found your channel. Love the importantance you talk about with soil health, looks like you have really healthy soil! In regards to the amount of clover you have in the sward + the fact you don't push your cows to graze very low causing them to nip/eat only the top third of the crop, does this cause issues with bloat and if so how do you overcome the issue?

Wow what breed of cows are those they are beautiful. I got my first Jersey bull calf this fall and they are now eating hay and grain. I have to plant a pasture this spring. The soil here is great but the pervious farmer planted soybeans and corn. I have been cutting the field all summer using a ride on because I dont have a tractor as of now. I'm not sure how to plant the pasture but I was thinking of just using a push seeder to lay the seeds. Or should I rent the tractor will a seed drill? Any info will be appreciated. Thank you . By the way your grass is beautiful. I have lots of clover since I have been cutting the fields there is also alot of grass that look like chives but im not sure what it is. I'm new to all of this. Man that is a beautiful sight! The cool thing is that for old played out ground, it doesn't take all that long to make big gains. My sheep farm was as beat to hell as anything you've ever seen around here and the areas where sheep have grazed since last fall are completely different than I've seen them in the 6 years I've worked there. I can't wait to get cattle in there....coming soon! In my case, I have thrown some clover seed out, in the 6 years I've worked on that property I had never seen a sprig of clover. I don't think there was any clover seed in the seed bank there. There is beautiful clover on most of it now though.
