There is a small pizza shop in my town, they have a 1 star review from somebody that says something like "I dunno, I was never here but I was at the car wash across the street and I didn't like it" The car wash is in no way connected to the pizza shop. Like..wtf?

I quit using yelp years ago. I switched to Google Maps. I’m now a level eight Google guide.

Indeed. Fake reviews are the bane of anyone selling anything online or otherwise. I deleted my Yelp account years ago.

The real lede is yelp’s obvious conflict of interest. Hustling businesses for money to correct problems of yelp’s own creation is inherently unethical. Yelps credibility is completely tanked and they deserve to go out of business.

Rob, I'm certain that MANY other people have said some Yelp sales people are more up front about this. They literally do push fake reviews until you start paying more.

My issue with Yelp and some of the others is it’s only $1500 you’re out but that’s a hell of a lick for them for potential no return for you. How many suckers does that salesman need each month to make bank.

He is right. Bad reviews should not be anonymous and you should have to prove a bad review with evidence of the problem.

Ive dealt with annoying/fake reviews also it’s a major pain. All yelp review should be verified…. I think if someone wants to maintain anonymity I personally don’t mind it .

Bruh, u mad about a single bad review you can refute easily? Yelp and other review sites are great for consumers, that is why they are popular. Business owners must be forced to answer for their shit service rather than be able to hide it. Most business with bad rating usually deserve it. It is not about one review, it's about the average and the number of reviews. Errbody knows that!

Perhaps your first negative review was from someone who confused your company for Metro Cars, which services DTW. And there’s another rental company with a very similar name at DFW. Maybe the name you chose is not distinctive enough to differentiate you from other rental companies that have “metro” in the name. Your logic at 2:07 has the downside that people might confuse your company for similar ones, especially if they’re the type of people who go to Yelp for information.

That’s where I disagree. I think all reviews should be completely anonymous. I give fully justified reviews, but then I get bullied for doing it. Reviews were anonymous I wouldn’t get bullied. Once I have enough money I’m gonna talk to a lawyer about these reviews and if I have a case, I’m gonna trigger someone into bullying me because I gave them a bad review.
