WORKED GREAT! THX MUCH! I had to work a but to get that plastic piece (steel cable link end) off, and reamed it 1/64 larger. I don't think mentioned in the vid - this reaming s/b 1/2" (on mine) deep, so it still functions as intended. Other than that, EXCELLENT fix. Only cost me the $4 for the cable nipple.

So you need to have spare length on the cable to use this method right? Otherwise one cable is now shorter than the other one and the switch may not reach it target tie in point anymore.

There is always some more length to cut, you only need 1.5-2 cm

This kind may help some car trunk but mine is to switch on to bonnet and touches on the switches. OR it is with the car key.. 🙏

Great fix not quite as easy as it looks. Especially getting the swage on the pin not to pull trough. If all possible, go for it. Everything in a Camry just un bolts and just goes off and back on in sequence with a repeatable outcome, and IMHO it is easier to do the job correctly just because that's the kind of person you are.... Arrrrrh!

I don't understand how cutting the black outer sheath of the cable will make the cable longer???

legitimate question to that misleading video. If you waist your time following it, making cable shorter, trunk will open right after you get on a first bump while driving, Cable is made by manufacturer on exact length, if it brakes - you are done. Only way to fix is to change entire cable and not manipulating like that inventor does.

@@jerrivil😢not true. It's like a bike brake cable. The length can be variable. As long as the plastic connector is in it's fixed position, and there is enough inner cable, it works. Ask any bike repair shop. Moore diy on my channel.

No lo sé Rick, parece falso. Al cortar el cable se disminuyó el recorrido, por ende abriría abrir al mínimo recorrido. Pero bueno, al parecer solo al parecer funcionó.
