Absolutely an incredible educational video Randy. You don't know how inspiring your knowledge is to fishermen who are new to fishing, or weekend warriors who only fish a couple times a month if and when they can find the time. As for me, who has retired from working life, and has more free time to hit the lake for fun, the knowledge you just shared is so valuable, that no one can really put a price on it. I, and I'm sure your subscribers will agree, am truly honored and humbled that you took this time to educate your followers with your in-depth knowledge and professional experience on the subject of "JIg Fishing". Kudo's to you Randy for your kind educational generosity.

It’s amazing to listen to Randy talk about setting the hook when flipping, versus any number of young kids who having their own -shows- KZfaq channel (which is to say they have a camera and an internet connection). It’s not their ability to catch fish…it’s their lack of ability to try and “teach”. *That’s why the best teachers are WELL into adulthood, with decades of experience, and excellent communication skills. But, more importantly, have a genuine passion for helping people. Randy exemplifies all of those attributes. It’s such a joy to listen to him speak.* Btw Randy, have you tried putting that blue dye in a small spray bottle?

Randy I thank you for sharing your knowledge with all of us , I know not many angles will share their secrets with people and for you too do that in this video is absolutely awesome man , I had the privilege to meet you once at Chickamuga lake , you ask if you could put your boat in and my son and I gave you ride to your boat and you were so appreciative and humble so thanks for all you do for the sport and helping us weekend anglers.

Touché on skirt trimming . I cut the skirt about 1/2" past the hook bend , then hold the skirt and make 2 trim cuts at 45⁰ . Try meat tenderize on your pork also. It softens the pork up for even more lifelike action , plus ads salt . Loved your tutorial , Randy !!!! Thanks for sharing the info !!!

Good tips!! Guys try dye markers instead of the dye liquid to accent your plastic jig trailers. You can be much more precise , and less mess. I have found over the years a little color variation goes a long way. The dye-markers work great to maximize color changes to your plastic chunks etc……they also store well in the boat. Rob

I noticed that some times you thread the thicker part of the chunk all the way up to the skirt band and other times you just ran the hook through the center of the body so it has side to side action. What do you consider as decision makers for the two ways to hook the chunks? BTW: Love the tutorial videos. I appreciate the time you take to do them and I learn a lot from them.

I did the braid to leader thing for a year or so.. i jumped on that tactical bassin band wagon. It was nice for how much cash it saved me from having to respool flouro all the time but the cost savings did not offset the amount of key fish i lost in tournaments. I found out i actually lost more fish not do to a leader knot failure but do to lack of stretch in my line.

At min 48, yes, hopping a jig will allow it to mimic an active crayfish AND reduce the chance of snagging on rocks. The chunk trailers are great for suspended or bottom oriented bass that are feeding on that slow fall; neutral feeding or cold conditions.

It's interesting your sucess with the blue chunks. Growing up on the rivers in SE Oklahoma, back in the 50's & 60's, my Dad would not have a boat with a blue bottom. He & other fishermen claimed that the bass could easily see blue and that the blue bottom could actually spook shallow bass. Guess the old timers knew what they were talking about!

Thank you for your instruction. I've been fishing bass on small lakes, super clear, in Wisconsin many yrs. I'm going to get a a skirt kit like you suggested. It will be fun to customize my jigs. I'm fishing mainly deep water with weed bottom. That seems to be where i can catch bigger bass. Any suggestions to use so the jigs don't get full of weeds all the time? Thanks again. Jerry
