Two identical basketballs are rolled across a horizontal table. One is rolled slowly, and the other, quickly. Both basketballs reach the end of the table at the same time and fall to the floor. Which one hits the floor first?

I really appreciate that there wasn't any background music. Honestly. All that music and sound effects of other science videos is such an extra cognitive load for folks like me. I just want to hear the information and not all the racket. Thanks for your videos.

No! You don't get to give extra conditions (ignoring friction and air resistance, and assuming that the floor is level) after you're done posing the question! They must be stated in the question in order to be considered in the answer.

It would be nice to see which one actually hit first, by a fraction, assuming they could accurately line up the start. I predict it would be the faster one - the rotation should generate a downward force from the Magnus effect, which would increase the faster the ball was traveling and spinning.

if you include aerodynamic effects while keeping a flat floor, then the faster ball should hit slightly earlier (think top spin drop shot in tennis). However, the small speed difference here would make the time difference of reaching the floor negligible.

How can both balls arrive at the edge of the table at the same time if they both start at the same time, and one is going slowly , and the other is going fast? The fast one has to get there first. (to the edge of table, not the floor) Remember you said "both balls reach the end of the table at the same time" Semantics.........maybe the wrong choice of words!!!

No one said that the balls start at the same time. The exact phrasing was: Two identical basketballs are rolled across a horizontal table. One is rolled slowly, and the other, quickly. Both basketballs reach the end of the table at the same time and fall to the floor. Which one hits the floor first? So, yes, we said that both balls reach the end of the table at the same time (because they do). We said nothing about them starting at the same time.
