You know you can fix the audio by replacing the original speakers with meridian Signature versions. They fit right in. Also add sound dampning. Super easy fix, takes about 2 hours. Part Numbers for replacement parts: c2d30486 (tweeter); c2d24862 (midrange) and c2d24863 (bass)

The exhaust IS the sound system, which is stellar. Jaguar should really remove the radio, just to avoid confusion. ;)

I had a 2015 F-Type R for three years, put 27,000 miles on it with no reliability issues. The electronics are out dated compared to Audi and Mercedes, but so are everyone’s, they turn out more units in a week than Jaguar does in a year. No one buys a Jaguar or a Maserati for their electronics, you buy them for the FUN.

These are aluminium paddles for sure... I drove with an SVR before and they definitely feel 100% aluminium...

I’ve got a 2016 F-type R and I agree with most of the things you hate about your SVR, especially the speakers (I also have the meridian surround package) and the inconvenience when the car turns off after unbuckling the seatbelt when the car is in park. And the fact the the front side vents aren’t functional is just disappointing. Good to know I can relate to someone about the same issues!

Depreciation is your friend... just don’t buy new. 2 years ago, I picked up a pristine 1 of 60 2012 XK-RS with under 20K miles and a 100K CPO warranty for $65K... Original out the door price was almost $150k.

That’s why I believe you should be able to test the car out for a week. Just to see if the vehicle actually fits into your life style. Dealers want you to drive the car around the block and make in some cases $100,000 + decision.

For the gas thing it happens sometimes if the pipe to the tank is too short or angled too close to the opening. Basically it pools up and the pump thinks it's full so it clicks. You can try flipping the nozzle upside down. If that doesn't work you can just take the fuel cap and jam it in the trigger. It won't fully actuate it so it will pump fuel slower which will solve the back pressure issue.

I have a 2016 F-type R. Agreed with most points. About the seatbelt and engine shutoff feature, my car only does that when engine auto shutoff is on and the engine is off (seems like that's the case in the video). In dynamic mode, my car rarely shuts off the engine at a stop, and I always drive in dynamic mode, so I don't encounter this often. Absolutely agreed on the infotainment system. Unpredictably slow. I could manage if changing songs is consistently a half second lag, but it's anywhere from .5 to 3 seconds. Typing is also slow with the split second lockout between each keystroke. Anything that has to do with the infotainment system is just slower. My last gen 2013 Mercedes E-class didn't lag at all and had more features, but my current C-class system is also pretty slow, but not Jaguar slow. Frustrating how these things are getting slower. Jaguar paint also seems to be softer than Mercedes. Paint definitely scratches much easier. Early F-types had some issues with paint along the side skirt and front bumper panel gaps flaking. Not sure why losing 50% value in three years is an issue specific to the F-Type. A lot of luxury cars, especially luxury sports cars, depreciate about that much. I find that the gas pump issue varies from pump to pump. I don't always get a consistent lock refueling my Mercedes either. Most of the time I do manage to get it to lock by making sure I have the nozzle fully inserted by giving it a good push after it's inserted. Then I ease into the trigger and lock when there's a steady stream of fuel going. The loud exhaust is definitely a police magnet. I've never had a police encounter until I got this car, and I have two under my belt by now (no ticket, thank god). I am driving slower than before since I'm always paranoid about police popping out of nowhere.

I have the 2014 RWD V8R and if you drive in dynamic mode (or simply take of the eco stop option) it won’t turn off when in park... The « too loud » issue isn’t really an issue since you buy the car for the sound of that V8! And I saw a comment about comfort for tall people and at 6’2 I’ve done plenty of 6+ hour trips stopping exclusively for gas and it’s great! We had space for 2 weeks worth of luggage and two 24-packs of beer and some extra stuff! Reliability seems to be a coin toss deal.. You’re either plagued with problems or you have a reliable car... at 40k miles I’ve yet to have any problems (knock on wood)! Overall, it’s a beast of a car and sure there’s better out there, but this has the soul of a Jaguar and it’s a dream for Jaguar lovers! The only points I fully agree on is the aged infotainment and the depreciation, but that’s also how I was able to afford it! 😂 Most of the « issues » cited are pretty far fetched and don’t affect overall ownership!

Everything you just exposed are all dealbreakers, collectively. For $130,000, you could've gotten a AMG GT or a used Gallardo or a Gran Turismo. Still a nice ride tho.

Why is the navigation system different to every other jaguar especially a 2017 model, because we have a 2015 jag xe and that has a newer looking system, is it just something with you being in a foreign country? I don’t know but the British navigation system is brilliant and everything is spot on in our jag, I love ours

Hey @effspot, I had a '16 F-Type R with the Meridian sound system and all you need to do to fix the audio is to get a update from the dealer for "Radio static/hiss update". It's a firmware update and I did it and it was fixed for me (at all sound levels). Any song with bass would sound like static coming from the window tweeters. Have an '18 now and it doesn't have the problem either. Good luck!

2017 F-Type R, AWD V8 owner here (about $115K fully loaded with a bunch of extras) and you TOTALLY NAILED most of the pet peeve's I have with this car, including that damn belt release/engine "feature" that my dealer didn't know!!! The subpar Infotainment system was my BIGGEST issue, considering the premium price and brand. Economy K-cars have better Infotainment systems for a fraction of the $. The overall GUI does look outdated and operates like a SLOW Win 2000 PC. Audio bass still causes irritating vibrations at 60%+ volume, etc. I sent a ton of customer feedback to Jag about everything and never heard back, of course. For the record tho, it's still one of the most uniquely beautiful looking and sounding Euro-Exotics sports cars on the road at just under the cost of an Aston Martin or Ferrari/Lambo, etc. I ALWAYS LOVE driving this baby, so I take the good with the bad (like my dating life). And people who still think a GT-R or any NON-Euro exotic would be a better purchase over the F-Type just doesn't get it. Thanks for the video!

Why the car turned off in park is because you have auto stop-start on, that shuts the engine (obv.) and when you put it in park it just decides to shut it self of. So every time I get in my F-Pace, I turn it of like a routine :)

Personally, I couldn't careless about info tainment system... Last thing I would want to do in that car is play music, radio ... Way more beautiful than audis, BMW etc.. sounds great too. Interesting how people make videos complaining about a car that they could and should have test drove before buying, then go on internet to complain about it. Then you have people who bought the same car come on only to agree about the negatives. If you buy a car after researching and test drive it only to complain about it, then you have rocks in your head. Another interesting note, people always trying to tell other people what to buy with money that isn't even theirs.

I bought a 2018 F Type R V8 and I love driving it! The thing I hate is the stereo how plain it is. I agree I could be nicer. I just got my car back from the dealership today after being in the shop for 3 weeks just to upgrade the damn thing! Talk about frustrating as I think they did not know wtf they were doing for it to take so long!! Other than that I love the sound and the way it handles ♥️

*effspot I have a 'top outfitted' Rsport . . . w/ 'premium meridian soundsystem' and **_OMG_** you are spot on - - I swear it sounds like front door speakers are 'blown' with the incessant and unavoidable buzzing/rattling it drives me INsANe to point that whilst driving I drive w/ left leg bent/so as to place ("plant") knee firmly against driver's door speaker to mitigate (partially) the infuriating speaker buzz/rattle. Dealer says "no issues speaker is fine" and true, it is - at like 3.8 dB volume max and bass/mid settings at minimum. OMG the sound system truly maddens me so dont feel bad it's not just you but clearly an endemic issue b/c I guess not one Jag designer/tester ever drove one with the radio on. Or they'd have known. Because it IS that bad*

Remedy: When fueling, rotate the nozzle handle 180 degrees (upside down) when fueling. Works every time!

The auto shut off after taking your belt off is a feature. Many customers forget to shut their keyless cars off and die of carbon monoxide. It’s intentional.

I had an S-Type and I had battery and electrical issues with my car. I had to change the whole harness system in the car and it cost me $6500. And the battery issues I had was the car would be dead when I would come out in the morning to start the car. I always had to cross my fingers when i went places that the car battery would not die. It's very strange.

It looks a million times better than an M3 though, you stand out more too, as you said the faults aren't deal breakers by a long shot, I think it's one of the best looking cars out there and that's including cars that cost 10x's what this does, it's also a car that can be specked up numerous different ways and it still looks good so each car can be quite personalised, and if you like to be seen without putting much effort into it which is seriously un cool then the F type lets everyone know your coming without any effort, anyone who says there sick of the sound and it eventually gets on there nerves shouldn't own a car like this and will probably be a couple of years of retirement! It's a cool car for young people who like to be noticed

If you think they charge too much for the SVR you should see the starting price of a base model 4-cylinder 296hp F-Type... It's $60,000... $75,000 for a well equipped one... 296hp... For the price of a Range Rover Sport.

I paid 89k for my convertible svr, its the best bang for your buck. He forgot to mention it has 575hp and goes 200mph. I get more attention in this car than any other car I’ve got the chance to spend time in. 458, turbo S, R8.

I heard jaguar is refreshing the ftype and some others in the next year or two. New drive trains and interiors. So you should wait to pick these up.

Gordy. when you fill up, put the fuel nozzle all the way in and then pull it out about half an inch to an inch.. the reason it will shut off and release the handle is because fuel is splashing back and touching the end of the nozzle telling it the tank is full... maybe you have tried this but thought id let you know. had the same problem with my skyline

I have a v6 f type and my sound system was fine at first but then it sounded like I had a blown speaker and couldn’t listen to any songs with some bass. I took the car to service and they said it needed a system update. It’s back to normal now. As far as the car turning off, it only happens with mine when the stupid start stop is on. So when I want the car to not turn off I push that button to turn the start stop off after pressing Park. Anyways I love my car!

Well.. Thats quite cheap.. The F-Type SVR cost here (in the Netherlands) €199.750,- for the Coupe and €206.850,- for the convertible..

There are some serious issues with the lack of attention to detail that shouldn’t exist on a car this expensive.

I had a Regular R Convertible and besides the sound which really is taste, not a very well put together car in my Op. Check engine lights, gearbox is nowhere near a DCT, car is pretty slow (lost to a Carrera Gts) for the hp torque figures, handling sucks, steering feel non existent ... List goes on. The interior doesn’t hold up very well if you have the suede style too. I think the SVR you have is quite a bit better but still, far far away from the praise these acclaimed when they came out. If you really want a performance/fun car I‘d get a 17‘ Gtr next. They’re insane fun with just 6k in mods and L.A has E85 around the corner. Will be night and day from the Jag. If You want a refined overall chilled but still fast upgrade you‘d be best of with an early 991 Gt3 or Turbo. If you‘re not into mods and lease the car, M5 F90 or new E63s are both major upgrades over the last generations. Ps: channel is coming along beautifully

The biggest thing wrong with this car is the fact that it cost $130K. I would never buy a British vehicle.

The key needs to be in the right place before you can switch it on and it takes and age to find it when you eventually place it in the correct location. There is no carpet protector for the foot rest.

It shuts off by design... all you need to do is press the button to disable ECO when you start the car... Read the manual. Who cares about the lights in the footwell or the displays on the climate control... Never got pulled over for the exhaust... in over a year.

I have a V6S convertible my paddle shifters are gold aluminium, it's the best sounding car I've ever owned, it's the best car I've ever driven, you complain about things you must of tried out before you bought it. You sound like a spoilt rich kid to me. Most people would give there right arm to own a car like that.

The plastic paddles on 'top outfitted Rsport (true, not Ftype but anyway) are **_unacceptable_** . . . the cabin/trunk lighting bulbs mindbogglingly stupid and firghteningly hot . . . the 'system' [infotainment/cluster] lag / delays - hard to comprehend. you are totally channeling so many of my same issues man every time I get in my car. 98.9% of it so well executed but they botch/skimp on the easy stuff it makes me crazy about my J as well - and I haven't even mentioned the car flooding issue which luckily you dont seem to have*

Buy a numberplate with V8FTYPE on it and put it on a V6 F Type... buy one which is really beat up and beat up the hell of it as well!

I have a 2014 Porsche Cayman S, that I've had for 4 years now and the thing I hate about it is a flaw in design. The radiators in the front don't have the best cover and if a perfectly sized rock gets into the radiator it can fuck shit up and then you gotta pay $1,300 to replace it. A rock got into mine one summer and it poked a hole my air conditioning tube. It's like 95 on a good day where I live, so I had to get it fixed asap. I took it in and Porsche was like "it's a flaw in design, you can buy a cover for it" and I'm like tHANKS. Now I can't ride ppl's asses like I used to because I don't want to have to buy a new radiator.
