As a developer myself. The internet will never be 100% secure due to user or human error. Like the reps at Verizon in your story. It's up to the devs and the users themselves to be secure. Only so much a dev can do for you guys..

How to make two step verification more safe? Number 1 you can verify it is you by using your face (this cannot be done by using a photo) Number 2 make the expired 6 digits code more shorts like 50 to 20 second And finally number 3 make it impossible to deactivate 2 step verification by contacting support (company will no longer be able to deactivate 2 step verification even if he/she has the password)

There's something called Account Dump,and it's basically a big text file with unlocked accounts,It usually can be done manually by performing a man in the middle attack,or hack the IP address,take the email and put the credentials

This is why you should have a burner phone like a prepaid that doesn’t require Personal ID for setup. Hackers can’t remote access the phone and can’t call customer service and fake your ID to have the sims changed.

I've had my steam account hacked with 2 step, basically they hacker(s) were so sophisticated they easily bypassed it and steam didn't even send me an email, I got the account back and apparently steam was after the hacker(s) and unfortunately they really knew what they were doing because the police couldn't trace/track him/her

Do you want to turn someones phone in a spy cam? yeah, you could drive across the country, grab the phone and place some spyware on in.. or, instead you just send a phishing mail, get your intel and convince your victim to install your brand new app. someones phone is in most cases just the entry ticket to your target. so you want to make the hack easy and quick... can you follow me?

So my friend got her Facebook hacked, she didn't give anyone a password or anything but it still happened. The more she tried to get her account back, the smarter the hacker became. She first sent her ID and get a new email address on the fb account. But the address was wrong so she had to make that address and wait 2 days for it to be active. By this time, the hacker had changed her name and profile picture so the ID option won't work. She then finally got into her email and renewed her pw but upon realization, the hacker turned on the 2 step verification process. What can she do to retrieve her account when fbs customer service sucks?

In this case, you’ll have to contact Instagram directly as they would be the only ones who could directly lift the 2FA from the account. Alternatively, if you have the phone backed up to the cloud, you can easily restore it and regain access to your Authenticator. Depending on which app you’ve used, many like Authy or LastPass offer backups of your 2FA accounts if you have an account with them.

it's because calls are usually off-shored to people in call centres who don't care, that's why the trick works. A way to prevent it is to has a cheap second phone with a pay as you go sim and use that for verification.

(Almost)Any cell phone has to have a SIM card if it is activated. That's the only way you can call from a regular cell phone. So yes, Verizon, and any other regular cell phone HAS to have a SIM card. I don't even know where you get that idea from.

Verizon and Sprint never used sim cards back in the day till "LTE" or Long Term Evolution. sprints 3g,2g, or Wi-Max didnt use sim cards. that stuff was built into the phone as before u couldnt use verizon or sprint on a GSM carrier even if they were unlocked. now they all use sim cards cuz of LTE. I don't even know where you get that idea from.

Verizon is CDMA, not GSM. They use the sim card for 4G, so if your phone is a 3G phone, you don't need a sim card.

my facebook account recently got hacked, and when they got into that, they were able to get into everything else associated with that email, becuase i had everything linked together. i was lucky i got the email notification at all, becuase it came from google's security, not facebooks, i didnt get the email about the facebook issue until a week and a half after this hacker got into my account. idk what the hell facebook is doing with their money, but its not being used to protect their users safety at all.

Believe me, I truly hate to say it that this one eventually had me convinced about effectively the most annoying training that I am forced to spend at least one valuable hour on, maybe twice a year, proudly sold by KnowBe4 to my company. Well, as much as I hate to say it, I suppose, it is needed. But maybe not as a subscription, because, you know, people do learn, eventually. Or do they? Urgh. (How was I convinced? I tried to understand how confirmation token phishing would practically work. And, I'm afraid to say, it sure does, within the right opportunistic window / time frame.)

I realize there's a difference between the hats but whenever I think about these people Low life people who want to destroy a person's life. They think it's funny. It's not. Losing your privacy online sucks. I just imagine them going. Through my Ish like it's all fun and games. And for a lot of hackers it is. The damage that could be done is unrepairable. I've seen stories of people commiting suicide because of silly shit they do. Not cool.
