Crushed granite works the best above road base to not leave bumps from rocks

is there a specific type of sand you need to use for base layer after the 3/4 stone?

Silica sand is used as an infill for synthetic turf to help the turf grass blades stand upright as well as to provide UV protection to the backing material.

@@jamescadzow9545 they were more wondering about the bedding layer. also to answer the question. limestone is great to level ur bedding layer. Sand works, as well but Ive learned with sand smells will accumulate if u have pets using the turf.

So I’m assuming the galvanized nails hold in place in the dirt due to the dirt being compacted? Thanks. Also did you need to build a like with like 2x4?
@christianreza1442 ай бұрын
the nails hold the turf from sliding, not from being pulled up, so the dirt/rock doesnt need to be too hard. just enough to give some resistance. the infill adds 50lbs to ur turf per bag. That is what prevents the turf from being pulled up

@@christianreza144 thanks so much for the info. I’m actually going to install my DIY in 3 weeks and was wondering. Now I know why the purpose of the infill. I was going to already nail in the edges and border but wonder about the middle if I had to nail in. But the infill makes sense.

Until you rip it up in a year because you realize artificial grass is trash and actually needs way more maintenance. Plant native grasses and trees and other plants and have a true minimal maintenance yard!

Accept leaves and debris still have to be swept off and cleaned off the artificial grass. It won't bio degrade into the ground. Also when it gets hot that artificial turf is very hot on the feet.
