Couldn't card breaks be better? Couldn't they do more than provide a viewer/participant a rush of adrenaline and dopamine? THEY CAN! And here's what I'll be working on to make sure card breaks can not only entertain, but also empower.

I do support this concept, and I would gladly participate in a retail / hobby priced break instead of a marked up break. I know a guy personally that pays scavengers to cruise local walmarts to snag all cards, and pays a premium for their finds ($15 extra per box of some product). He cleared $60k+ last year selling team breaks. Player breaks are worse... if you don't win, you're still out a shipping fee, and these guys really clean up. With the scarcity of hobby shops (none in Houston maybe? I asked around at the show and no one knew of anything reliable), only retail products or direct order hobby product is the key. Personally I only get what I come across randomly, but have been lucky at a few Walmarts in small towns on my way to work. Otherwise, I am picking up older boxes from my 1999-2001 collections / set building addictions.

Hey Brad, I like the idea, I run a nonprofit that helps foster families and children in foster care. I would love to be a part of this. I have also been trying to get card sellers to add Light of Mine Ranch as a charity on eBay or other platforms.

Just want to reach out and let you know I have a similar vision, but with a focused community empowerment goal. Like Dave Ramsey always says, be intentional. K respect your vision and what you've done for this hobby to fate. I look forward to seeing your progress with this vision. If I get my vision going, I will share it with you and hopefully be able to participate in yours. Best of luck. God speed.

If we start demanding more from the companies we buy from, change will begin to happen. My idea: we start a campaign. We ask everyone doing card breaks to give their 4th best card away (based on current market values) from that break to charity or to a young child just starting in the hobby. Think about it. It's only one card, but it could make a huge difference.

It's an awesome idea. I like some breaks, but I hate others. I was in a break group, and literally missed anything on 3 straight breaks, and the one I had, I pulled one of the most oc cards. I'd feel better, if the breaks had gone to charity instead of a breaker.

You don't want sports players opening packs of cards - seen 2 breaks like that before - and they were so self-obsessed they were damaging the cards they were pulling, cos they did not care - lol - not soo good if opening high end stuff for charity and people have bought in to it

Definitely interesting idea. Would be big draws to see athletes rip packs to chase their own rookies. Then have people donate/buy spots for random draw teams. Seeing a lot of pro athletes on apps like Cameo makes me think some might be open to this. I mentioned this to Andy that you should get Ice Cube to rap your version of Straight out of COMC on Cameo. Think that would be awesome 🤣. I thought about paying the $400 for Lamar Jackson for my channel intro but then I thought about how many cards I could buy and flip on COMC with that. So no Lamar intro 🤣. Its probably not great idea financially but would be cool af🤣🤣

I like your concept Brad. Seems like a win win for everyone which is always a good idea. I've been trying to come up with a plan to get cards to kids. Kids in the hospital or kids with cancer. I think we all have many cards in our inventory that we could donate. Ideally it would be on a large scale instead of just dropping them off at a hospital.

Nobody is going to be making decent money here very soon. A lot of the whales already got out which was driving prices up across the board. Mid level investors won’t be able to save that sinking ship.
@knowledgeispower9202
@knowledgeispower9202 3 жыл бұрын
I'm actually curious why you think it's a "sinking ship". I see all-time high interest in the market, just at a lower price point than the previous highs for now, and the crash helped knock us all back into reality, but as long as there's demand for the product, there will always be a market, and a market, by definition will have opportunities to make money within it. Unless you really do think cards are about to be worthless for some reason?
@cranewhitmore201
@cranewhitmore201 3 жыл бұрын
@@knowledgeispower9202 over saturation for starters… there’s a reason the junk wax era exists and that 99% of those cards aren’t worth the cardboard they were printed on. The second being the pandemic. Now that everything is going back to normal, people are starting to go back to work and making better investments in the stock market opposed to a worthless piece of cardboard. The paradigm has shifted. Smart people are starting to redistribute their wealth. Which in turn will eventually bottom the market out. This cycle tends to happen with sports cards but because of the pandemic, there was a huge spike. And with a huge spike in turn creates a huge crash. Which is what we are seeing now. Two years from now, or less, 80% of the people who got involved due to pandemic boredom, will be completely out of the game. Which means less buyers, which equals a ton of investors left with all sorts of dead money and worthless cardboard in their possessions. Best they can hope for is for the next cycle of cards rising to happen quicker than 10-years or so from now.

@@cranewhitmore201 and I would point out that high end cards continue to set record sale prices. Clearly not all "the smart people" share your opinion that they're worthless pieces of cardboard, anymore than people view paintings as worthless pieces of canvass with paint smeared across them. Your opinion that stocks are "better investments", is your opinion and you're entitled to it, but that doesn't make it fact for someone wanting to diversify into more than just stocks. There is plenty of interest outside of just "collectors" in the sports card market. I don't see them suddenly just going away entirely. But maybe that's just me.
