Here's What 22 Hours in United Polaris Business Class is Like!

The day has finally come... I am FLYING IN BUSINESS CLASS! Join me as I embark on a massive 28 Hour International Journey from Auckland, New Zealand to Heathrow, London. 22 of these hours will be spent in a United Polaris Business Class seat, while 6 hours will be enjoyed in transit at the United Polaris Business Class Lounge in San Francisco Airport. I also get to check out the Air New Zealand Premium Lounge at Auckland International Airport, and a surprising arrivals lounge at Heathrow Airport upon entering London!
This is (obviously) my very first flight in luxury... you may or may not be able to tell by my extreme facials throughout the video. It is also my second ever Solo Vlog! It is definitely interesting getting used to filming in public without Ludvig by my side, but I feel like I did pretty well! Be sure to stick around for the next handful of videos as I embark on my Solo Adventure in the opposite direction, eventually making my way to Canada and back to my fiancé.

Hej hej allihopa! ("Hey everyone" in Swedish) We are Chloé, the Kiwi, and Ludvig, the Swede. We met at a Ski Resort in Canada and have since been travelling the whole world together. So far... we got engaged in the snowy mountains, hiked through Norway, flown a propeller plane around Sweden, visited 20 (ish) US states, cruised through the Mediterranean, Iceland and Greenland, road tripped through the whole of New Zealand in a campervan and now we're in the process of moving to CANADA! Phew! Clearly we hate the word boring.

From my experience, catering from outside the US on a plane is a bit better than here in the US. I haven’t flown long haul in Polaris but, I have flown on their premium transcontinental flight from Newark to San Francisco and I can definitely say that getting Polaris on that route is definitely worth it because you get the same Polaris level service. Though you don’t get access to the dedicated Polaris lounge. You do get access to the United Club though.

I flew Polaris for the first time Newark to Rome. It was amazing. I'm flying again from Newark to San Francisco in Polaris then San Francisco to Sydney also in Polaris. I'm not as animated as Chloé but Im weirdly excited for the 22 hour flight. Thanks, Chloe.

Hey just found your video and really enjoyed it. I have flown United Polaris Business once before and I will say that your food seemed better to me. I do really miss it though the whole experience was enjoyable just the food wasn't as good and I had hoped for. You earned a new sub 👍

So, I just watched this video. I am planning a trip to the US from the UAE and I wanted to fly Qatar, but I didn’t have enough money. There was a United Airlines flight that was reasonably priced. So, I went to You Tube to find out more about the Polaris Business class flight and wound up on your video. I’m sold! Thank you so much 😃

Hey Ulisheba! That’s awesome news! Sounds similar to my experience - I originally looked at Qatar as I liked the idea of their q suites options but as you mention, very pricey. United definitely offered a slightly more affordable option! So glad you were able to make a decision after watching this!! Thanks for the comment 😊

I travel by plane regularly but almost always domestic in US. I must say, I could never eat like you and many others prior to and on planes. I often have and worry about stomach upset. No problem with alcohol and simple stuff at lounge prior to short connections to final destination. Delta is my airline of choice. Fun video, I liked your USA train videos.

My very first first class flight was United to London in 1995. I was just as excited as you were on this video. I was a kid in a candy store. I never looked back and have flown business class ever since. For me, it never gets old and I love the flight just as much as the vacation. I am a huge point whore and I pay for everything with my United credit card. This really helps with the cost.

I admit to having scrolled through this but I did enjoy what I watched. What did I like? I liked that you did not assume that we all know everything about business class travel. Most of the vbloggers don't give the details as they all seem to take everything for granted. I didn't know that you could order a meal when you wanted - the midnight soup and toastie - and would have gone hungry myself not wishing to be rude. I also did not know that you could use the business lounge upon arrival. I would have gone and paid for an expensive airport coffee and plastic sarnie oblivious that there was free, quality coffee and croissants in the business lounge. I think you did the right thing in, if you are going to pay for the business ticket, that you should plan to get the most out of it. Being a polite Brit I would have to train myself to keep ordering the nice food and alcohol... and to enjoy the lounges before and after the flight. I hope you have a wonderful time in Canada. It looks an amazing country. Such a shame that it, like NZ, is going through such sinister times. FREEDOM!

So glad I stumbled upon your channel. Your excitement for travel is infectious! Just FYI you will need to clear immigration and re check your baggage on international arrivals in any U.S. airport. Unless of course your international departure had US pre clearance, which is only offered at a handful of locations. Hope you continue to experience and enjoy premium cabins!

(I'm here in Southern Ontario.) Your realization that vlogging is VERY tech-heavy made me laugh (and sympathise) -- makes you wonder how "funniest vids" VHS contributers did what they did 30+ years ago!🤔 Is it weird that I really liked the bathroom segment of your vid? Looks like you had a cosy night-time. Free toiletries are the highlight of any trip (I still have shampoo and soaps from my childhood travels in the Seventies!) Oh, and seriously beautiful camera-work throughout!❤ And I have been there in the toilet (mid-stream) ahen the pilot said RETURN TO YOUR SEAT! (Stressful! Esprat 8 years old!)

I have a few hours before my VRBO is ready in London, did you use the arrivals lounge and bring your checked bags to the lounge? This might be better for me than paying for an early check in.

Yes! The lounge staff were really nice and stored all of my bags for me. It’s a great place to have a meal, a shower and a chill before you head off :)

thank you for sharing but one thing from AKL to Sfo on your meal tray you had appetizer and salad but from SFO-LHR they gave you only salad and what about serving hot towels?

Yeah I think that was the case! Most things seemed very consistent throughout both flights :) they didn’t serve hot towels actually!

37:17 I really wanted to fly United Polaris Business Class from San Francisco to Incheon, South Korea but my Parents couldn’t afford it, I might upgrade to Polaris when I fly from Chicago to London, Amman to Washington DC, San Francisco to Incheon, and Taipei to San Francisco

Aukland to London, Paris,etc is generally done via Asia although there can't be much of a difference between going via the Pacific and across North America.A more exotic route would be south over Antarctica and north up Africa although nobody goes that way! Probably be a bit longer via Antarctica as the Earth is slightly egg shaped thus increasing the distance.

@chloeandludvig Polaris was 100 times better when it began. A lot of perks and good food have disappeared. Detailed menus as well as drink menus/wine lists are gone, as are the good wines. 😪 The good news is the ice cream/dessert cart is making a slow comeback.

BTW, I found you today. I have flown hundreds of thousands of mile since before I was 1 y/o on through my skool years, then through the first 16 years of my working career; all in economy. Now I am retired and if I have to fly it's business class because it seems my girth is also re-tired 😂 Wait until you try Singapore Airlines or Emirates.

Yay exciting for you!! I just left my things on my seat/booth. As long as you keep an eye on your things, you should be fine :) I believe the front desk might even store your carry on for you - I've had this done once in a business class lounge!

Was this $4000 one way for your business class?? I’m new to all this and actually lost in all this lol I need to book a flight from St Louis to London and I don’t how to go about it all and do afraid I will get ripped off… scary to say the least !

Ooooh I think what I meant is that in this video you'd see why I had traveled all the way to Scotland (to take the longest business class flight possible haha). We moved to Canada for a fun change, but are back in New Zealand now - it's such a beautiful country!

United has the best Business Class in the United States. But it's not First Class, which is an elevated experience .

@@chloeandludvig No that person has not likely experienced it. In domestic US service, most first class is more like premium economy and thus much less than business class on international flights. Elevated service? Only on an international flight.
