In this video I will show viewers why vintage pickup trucks are becoming so reliable. I'll show you some of the interesting details of this 1984 Chevrolet K20 4x4 Pickup and take it on a thorough test drive.

Impressive ...a young lad who understands why we love driving old school squares or any old school vehicle. Your totally right about being fully engaged with the driving experience. Unlike all the new stuff which equates to riding a couch while watching the tube........

A 350 small block Chevy from the 1980's makes about 210 to 230 horsepower, but gobs of torque, and they run forever.

Great review and show 😊 ! Old is Gold , that's the reason i own a 81 Oldsmobile Delta 88 sedan. These old cars and trucks are so much easier to repair and the ride is comfortable .

Between my brother and I, we owned 25 of these things. You can't kill 'em and parts are infinitely available, both in junkyards and online. Nothing friendly about it? They have better attitudes than some horses and last longer. I've taken these things everywhere. There's no reason you should ever have to stop driving it. Also, they're perfect for LS swaps.

That is their Achilles heel - rust. Rust-proofing was available, but it has to be done when it was brand new, or else you will just give rust a hiding place. Rust-proofing finds few takers, then and now.

Nice vid! 👍 Love those old trucks. My first truck was a 1969 F250 4x4, my 1 and only brand new vehicle was a 1989 F250 4x4. I kept that truck for 27 years. My current truck is a 1992 dodge W250. All my trucks have been daily drivers, as well as being used as trucks. IE hauling wood, building materials, furniture, rocks, dirt, sand, motorcycles, slide in campers. None were ever pampered. It is the main reason why I won't buy a new or even newer truck. I can't justify spending tens of thousands of dollars on something that will get scratched, dented, lights busted, etc. On a regular basis. I have under $5,000.00 invested into this old truck of mine. And that includes $3,000.00 for an engine I just built for it that will be going in it this spring. Loved the video! Nice to see the appreciation you have for the older trucks. 👍😁

What sucks about living up in the Northeast as soon as you get a truck like You have your realize I'm only going to drive at 6 months out of the year lol You won't dare drive beautiful old trucks in the winter because you'll get yelled at by everyone for getting salt on it.

1984 was the first year for the windshield wiper & high beam low beam switches on the steering column. It was also the first year for black windshield wiper arms & blades too. Those generation Chev & GMC fullsize pickups & SUVs were produced from 1973 - 1991 except in 1987, the half ton & three quarter ton regular cab pickups were done, & in 1989, the one ton regular cab pickups were also done. Like the one ton regular cab pickups, the medium duty models which are those bigger size trucks with the same cab design were also produced from 1973 - 1989.

Take care of that truck, and if your not in the rust belt, it'll last you for a long long time, and pre '87s hardly had any sophisticated electronics on board, so no electric fuel pump in the tank, basic mechaical one that seems to work forever mounted on the engine Serviceable front wheel bearings and things like that make it an awesome truck thats easy to do basic maintenance on
