Hey scotty I hope you're enjoying tennessee. I'm a 19 year portuguese old car enthusiast. I just want to thank you for giving us so much information about car mechanics for the last 9months I haven't missed a single vídeo. Sometimes I get bored and rewatch them hahahaha. I know you're doing a give away it would mean so much to me to have something off yours. Fell in love with Mazda after buying a used 1996 Mazda 323 compact with 40,000 on it from a "reputable" used car dealership. I didn't know at the time, but apparently it was salvaged, & the front axel had been welded back together. (A mechanic finally told me this only after multiple alignments due to problems with the right front tire always wearing unevenly). I had it about 8 years, & at 250,000 miles, it was starting to use a little oil. I always changed the oil about every 3000 miles, because I didn't know any better. The only other annoyance was the water pump went out once. I became scared of it because I traveled 100 miles+ 5 days a week. I had someone haul it away for 50 bucks, & bought another used (unsalvaged) Mazda 3 & treated it the same with the same luck, only the headlights kept going out on it. I forgot what early 2000s model it was, but my mechanic said that was the quirk for that particular year, & even offered to buy it from me for his kid. That made me feel so good that I decided to hang onto it. I traded it in at 90,000 miles because a kid smashed it up while parked. Bought & have a used 2014 Mazda 3Touring model, & at 63, 000 miles, I'm beginning to suspect the transmission may be beginning to act up, but it's been solid otherwise. (May need some Lucas slippage stuff per Scotty) Really hope someone else more knowledgeable got the 1996, & I've wondered about how many miles it could have gone. The only thing I dislike about them is how low they sit...makes an old woman work to get in & out of it, & I'm always scraping the ground. Scotty! I'm looking for a Toyota Dolphin RV. There's a video where you said there was a certain year to avoid due to the engine using oil, & I CAN'T FIND IT AGAIN!!! Can you please tell me that particular year to avoid. I think you said '81 (???)

Watching Scotty's car docs is inspiring and I gain a lot of respect for the various auto companies featured. Sadly most of that respect disappears when visiting the car dealership and dealing with the salesmen and various managers. My first car was an '84 RX-7 in 1998, which I purchased from a friend for $300 and had electrical issues, but I bought it before I had my license [mom wouldn't sign off on me driving]. I was so proud when I got it up and running and I taught myself to drive [manual at that!] in the midnight hours when my mom was asleep. I don't think I've ever had so much fun or so much pride with/in one of my possessions. The pop-up headlamps were pure magic to me, the car drove like a bat outta hell, and I woulda driven it into the ground if I didn't fry the electrical system for good w/ a short from too much self-installed stereo equipment- I melted the battery terminals + clamps! Shortly after I met my 1st girlfriend, who drove an '87 RX-7!

I had never even been in a Mazda but I recently purchased a 2020 Mazda CX-5 GTR, in machine grey metallic, and I have to say I'm pretty much in love with this car. You get so much value for your dollar. The vehicle is loaded with features, is way more fun to drive (in the 2.5 Turbo) than its direct competitors, and IMO looks better both inside and out. I've owned BMWs, Audis, VW's, Toyotas, etc, etc and this is by far my favorite. Before I pulled the trigger on the Mazda I test drove the Honda CRV, the Subaru Outback (and I own another Subaru Forester), and a VW Atlas and Tiguan and again it was our clear favorite. So much fun to drive and looks great doing it! As long as the quality holds up I can see myself becoming a pretty loyal Mazda customer.

First day, first hour I had it, I was at a stop light when someone I knew pulled up next to me in a Dodge with a 440 Magnum engine. He wanted to race. We were along an airport, so there was a long straight-away with not cross streets or lights. I missed my first shift so he pulled half a car length ahead. After that I stayed even with him. When we finally came to a stop, he wanted to know what the heck I had under the hood!

Ok i have a few questions for you. How well is the AWD? A video on KZfaq put rollers underneath one of the wheels and the AWD wasn't enough to pull forward and off the rollers.. Also they say being AWD it is rather slow, compared to the previous years. Can you give me any feed back on what you experienced?

One time when I rented a car, I was assigned a Mazda 626 ... that was in the late 90s. It was probably a 1999 or 2000 year. Anyway, I had enjoyed that car driving around with all the bells and whistles and an air conditioner that flowed sideways in all different directions and it was just a super comfortable wonderful car to drive. I’ve never forgotten how much I enjoyed it. I just didn’t know if it would be a car to buy or not.

@@omastokzpekaca The original poster stated that small european cars can't compete (with a mazda 2). I beg to differ because i too have a small european car and turbocharged with a meaty midrange right through the revs from 1400-6000. Mazda 2 better get a good start off the line, that's all I can say. Mazda 3, there's a reason why Mazda is now turbocharging them too - a bit late to the party though because the Germans have been doing that since WWII

The Mazda Cosmo was introduced at the 1968 Tokyo Motor Show, I was there with my father who tried to buy a Cosmo at the show but they wouldn't sell to an American as they had no US support for it. The Cosmo along with the Honda 750 4 cylinder were the hits of the show. After returning to the US both my father and I bought Mazda rotary cars, he bought a 1972 RX-2 coupe (and later an RX-3 wagon) and I bought a 1974 RX-4 wagon. Fabulous, but short lived engines, the metallurgy was just not there to keep the apex seals alive.

Runs great and LOVE the soft velour seats! I’m also looking at the CX-5 when I decide to upgrade. Only negative thing I’ve heard is that the infotainment center is not a touch screen, if that is important to you, but the sport awd has a LOT of power for a 4 cylinder. Let us know if you get one!

My first new car purchase was a 1976 Ford Currier pick up. Best Mazda truck ever, that is after I rebuilt the motor. New cam, new Weber carb, match port, header & new exhaust made it run great. Instead of the original 85 mph someone told me he was doing 120 when I blew by him. Miles per gallon improved a lot even though I drove it hard. Smog emissions were only a fraction of allowable limits so it ran real clean too. Great little truck, wish I still had it. Mazda has made a lot of great cars and you’re a great story teller.
