Honestly if the AT-OT had a fast firing AA cannon on the back then it'd be unstoppable.

Never realized the Empire sent ATATs to Hoth because they were one of the few things that could walk through the shield. The empire mentions requiring the shield down, but it isn't as obvious as the Phantom Menance where the MTTs and AATs stop, allowing battle droids to continue while they remain halted.

So many one off vehicles appeared in Revenge of the Sith. Another one was the UT-AT and the Republic dropship/speeder on Utapau.

Shame we don't get to see more of these lesser seen/obscure vehicles in more Star Wars media. The AT-OT is a really amazing design for its troop transport role and fits really well in Star Wars. If only we could see more of it in games and other media.

I always imagined putting artillery guns and/or flak guns in the open top sections, similar to halftracks from WW2.

It’s interesting to see how vastly different imperial design philosophies are from republic ones, with the Tarkin doctrine pushing for overwhelming shows of force they kinda wrecked a lot of what made the republic and CIS effective fighting forces. Smaller but effective vehicles and space craft vs giant hulks of metal that while powerful were so massive they could be outmaneuvered and destroyed by things thousands of times smaller than them.

Another example that prequel era vehicles are much more thought through and reasonable than the idiotic imperial vehicles of the OT. The filmmakers did a much better job with the seperatist and republic war material.

My first thought regarding all that space below the troop bay was MRAP. They learned their lessons from losing many AT-TEs to mines, so they put a deep V-shaped hull on their new dedicated transport.

I believe Aayla Secura was so "Over-killed" by her clone troopers is that they actually liked her and did not want her to suffer. Can't remember the source on this though.

I’m glad mods and channels like yours keep these obscure Star Wars vehicles alive. I hope to see videos about the Trade Federation GAT and HAG real soon.

I remember this walker from the expensive Lego set. I never actually got it, but I drooled over it in the Lego catalog.

Perhaps the Republic wouldn't have been so strapped for credits if the invested in the superior Juggernaut and TX-130 tanks from the start, instead of the slow moving AT series. 300 troops in 1 Juggernaut would require 8 AT -OT/AT-TE walkers. Plus, you can always make varients of the Juggernaut that are dedicated to firepower instead of troop transport. Just imagine seeing multiple mass driver cannons racing towards you at 160 km/hr

A favorite Lego Set (10195) of mine because it also came with the Republic LAAT heavy lift transporter and can pick up the AT-OT. The LAAT was also compatible with the AT-TE too as it had the needed part that lets you connect it to the underside of the LAAT.

The only other advantage is that the OT comes with couple of dozens of point-defense in the form of clone troopers getting up from their seats and start blasting away.
