In this video we find out why the land rover discovery is the most interesting suv. The land rover discovery has a very interesting history and has been around for a very long time. This specific land rover discovery is a series II, which was preceded by the series I. The series 2 was in production from 1998 through 2004 and had a dual character ability. It could play as a luxury family hauler and also had fairly decent off roading capabilities.
Land Rover is infamous for building off road capable SUV’s but one thing I had no idea about is how many cool and interesting features this land rover discovery series II had. Starting from the exterior design, the Discovery has a cool front end, interestingly shaped rear glass design, and a rear trunk door that opens the other way.
On the interior you have 3 row seating that allows for up to 7 person seating. On the interior the features get more interesting for this land rover discovery. The 3rd row seating has the most clever fold and deploy method I have ever seen in an SUV. It allows for one hand operation and cleanup! Separately, the cup holder count in the land rover discovery is remarkable. They are so many cup holders in one relative spot, it was so interesting to see it executed in this way. Additionally, the Land Rover Discovery also has separate air conditioning units for the front and rear passengers, again another items i hadnt seen in any other car.
The Land Rover Discovery is one of the most unique and interesting SUV i have every driven. It offers the practically of a normal 7 seater SUV with a side of character. The fact that these are relatively cheap, i think they are a great buy for anyone looking for something that is quite, comfortable, and has character.
Hope you enjoyed this video of Here's Why The Land Rover Discovery Is the Most Interesting SUV! Thanks for watching

It's great to see someone appreciate what's in a vehicle especially the Disc 2 series. There are many other features not mentioned here that are also not just interesting but were introduced into Land Rover before any other 4x4 manufacturer. Hill decent being just one of them (first in the Freelander which did not have low range gearing). The models with the air suspension also offer amazing ride comfort and other benifits like towing a caravan the suspension would always be kept level with no sagging at the rear. It also offered the option of raising the suspension when serious off roading is done and then too it offered a remote where you can lower the suspension which I find extremely helpful when attaching my caravan to the tow hitch not having to lift the van but rather using the remote to do the job. So yes all in all the Disco 2 is certainly a vehicle that was sometimes underrated and had features that no other 4x4 had at the time. I have the TD5 engine which I find more that adequate and fuel efficient unlike my original Disco 1 with the 3.9ltr V8 and awesome motor but very thirsty.

I have a 2003 that my sister had since new but she let it die and parked it in a corner to be covered in leaves, and dirt. I took it off her hands and restored it. It now has fresh new paint, 3” inch lift Old Man Emu heavy duty suspension, re-enforced shock towers, new steering damper, new ball joints, yellow poly bushings, 16” black steel rims with BFG all terrain KO2 tires, new hubs, EBC brakes all around, new head gaskets, new radiator, new alternator, new Optima yellow top battery, new windshield with new cowling, Safari snorkel, ARB steel bumper, Warn winch, ARB side steps, Voyager rack, Hella off road lights all around, dark tinted windows, Cobra CB radio, Hi-Lift jack, shovel and axe kit, rear ladder, custom headliner with adjustable fiber optic lights, limb savers, and ceramic coated paint. Next on the list is a full Magnaflow exhaust and an ARB retractable awning. Everywhere I go, people approach me and ask me questions. Some even want to buy it from me. But it’s not for sale. I’ve set money aside in the event of major engine repair or transmission swap. Buying a brand new SUV is almost unobtainable these days. New SUV prices are ridiculous and they are full of electronics that are useless in the middle of nowhere. Lol

This is by far the best presentation of a Land Rover Discovery 2. Old car, old stuff, but well made and functions that todays cars can only dream about, since all development money goes to software for the infotainment screen, which seems to be more important than the car itself. Big screens and less buttons makes chances for accidents higher. Please do an episode 2, with a bit more challenging off-roading, and more about the drive train. Btw, I am sure the two sun roofs are not meant to call for the princess, but to stand up with a pair of binoculars scouting, and a gun for big game hunting (in relative safety). That's what my father did years ago. Kind regards

In stock form, disco 1 has better ángles and clearance compared to the disco 2. So it has some vantage in this sense. This is mainly due to the extra rear length and the huge bumpers, mainly in the early models(pre-facelift). Tractionwise, disco 2 is better due to the traction control system, which is awesome. Add a centre diff locker(some models came with it) and you'll have a better car overall. Not a lot better, tho. It's main vantage compared to the disco 1 is the possibility to tune it up compared to the disco 1. Add a remap(td5), some 32 or 33 inch tres, +2" susp lift, wheel spacers, small bumpers and you'll have a real beast for less than 5-6k if you go for terrafirma stuff and so. 10-12k if you go for some higher level stuff. All this, along with THE ELECTRONICS, makes it a fantastic car. Td5 engine is really reliable so not too much money needed to keep it running healthy. And the 3 Knowles sigues of the car are easy and cheap to repair. Bote are great cars anyway.

I have that exact disco in Portugal and I going to convert it to Lpg gas. It’s way too expensive to use petrol. The only fault I have with it , and I see you have the same problem , is the roof liner keeps falling down. I’m tired of gluing it back. BTW I’ve also change the ECU. That too is a common problem this model. But over all it is one of the best out there in its class. Be safe.

Mine has the same issue, glue never holds and can stain the headliner. The thing i did was use staples, I lifted the sunroof housing and pulled the cloth under it then stapled it. Theyre not visible but the headliner still has some small sag on sides. Overall looks much better tho
@koitorob
@koitorob 3 жыл бұрын
The issue is the thin foam padding between the roof lining and the fabric you see breaks down. As it's the foam that is glued to the lining once it degrades it sags. The best thing you can do is remove the headlining from the car, strip off the old headlining and fit new using the correct high temperature glue. Often the cause of the sagging is due to water damage from a leaking sunroof or blocked sunroof drain tube or alpine window seal so you need to investigate whether that's the cause before replacing the headlining. There are plenty of suppliers of automotive headling material. Here's one example i've seen at Land Rover shows www.martrim.co.uk/car-trimming-supplies/land-rover-headlining-kits.php
@monzarace
@monzarace Ай бұрын
Don't use any sort of spray glue. It sticks to the foam, which is rotten, then that foam gets loose, and the liner sacks again. The only way is to take it out of the car, tear it off, clean off the old foam, and use a proper painters gun to spray new contact glue on to both the new material and the liner hard foam. It takes a weekend to do it complete with all disassembly and reassembly. I did it myself, and it sits perfectly. Remember NOT to press ANYWHERE while gluing and let it stay for 24 hours NOT touching it, before reassembly. Otherwise you will have finger dents all over. And do fold the new material over the edge all over, so that it stays in place in the future, NOT edge cutting. Easy peasy. Eventually, use the spray gun with contact glue on the new headliner material foamside, Let it dry for an hour, then respray. And use a thick paint brush on the liner hard foam (the upper part). Remember that you should NEVER spray downwards towards the liner or liner material, only horisontal and let it land softly on the material that you spray on. Failure to do this, promotes bleeding through, and that + finger dents can NOT be removed. New job then. Better do it right the first time. Cheers.
