Clean the board with isopropyl alcohol. Then clean the contacts. Board components are generally waterproof. Invest in an ultrasonic cleaner too. Great for complex parts and boards.

It depends. If it was not conformal coated when it was manufactured, then it will not be waterproof. The corrosion will have damaged the components where they solder to the PCB and the corrosion will be causing shorts and open circuits all over the place. This thing has sat for months with water in those modules, it will be hard to fix them.

A brand new BCM from Dodge is about $250. Part# 4865524AL. That's what I would try first. It may work without programming. I thought mileage was stored on the BCM, but according to the manual it's actually in the PCM. So the BCM should not need to be programmed: "If the PCM is replaced, update the mileage and vehicle identification number (VIN) in the new PCM." If you end up having to replace the PCM, your Launch tool should be able to write mileage and the VIN into the new one. Also, don't forget these cars have something called ASD "auto shutdown relay". This may be your next issue. Now a blown ASD relay will not prevent the engine from cranking, according to the service manual. If you want a copy of the service manual, I will gladly email it to you. It's about 1,800 pages. Here's how the PCM and ASD are supposed to work: "The Auto Shutdown (ASD) and fuel pump relays are mounted externally, but turned on and off by the PCM. The crankshaft position sensor signal is sent to the PCM. If the PCM does not receive the signal within approximately one second of engine cranking, it deactivates the ASD relay and fuel pump relay. When these relays deactivate, power is shut off the fuel injectors, ignition coils, heating element in the upstream oxygen sensors, hydraulic fan solenoid and the fuel pump." To answer your question about the PCM having to communicate through the BCM here's what it says: "The Body Control Module (BCM) supplies vehicle occupants with visual and audible information and controls various vehicle functions. To provide and receive information, the BCM is interfaced to the vehicle’s serial bus communications network, referred to as the Programmable Communications Interface(PCI) data bus. This network consists of the; • Audio system equipped with RBQ radio. • Controller Antilock Brake (CAB) • Electro Mechanical Instrument Cluster (EMIC) • HVAC Control Module • Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) • Powertrain Control Module (PCM)" Now that's not a very definitive explanation, but clearly your BCM is water damaged. For the cost of a replacement, it's worth just getting a new one and trying it out. You could try your luck with a used minivan BCM or something off eBay, but you never know what condition a used one will be in.

The modules communicate to each other thru canbus, which is basically a wire connecting to each module. A corroded connector would be the first thing I'd look at, at the body control module. Seeing as how the body module still reads on your diagnostic, check the wire out that goes to the engine computer.

My assembly line at work handles a couple dozen sunroof ECUs. They all have the same footprint and fit into the same motor housing and while there are only 4 different PCBs, the software written to each is different between vehicles. The Caravan BCM is probably a completely different PCB inside the same housing. Even if it's the same PCB, it'll be different software.

could also be the simple thing: neutral or clutch sending switch. What I'd do is put it in neutral, run power to the starter and manually kick it over. If it doesn't turn over or sounds like a box of gravel then no use wasting any more time if the engine is shot.
@802Garage
@802Garage 2 жыл бұрын
Just made a similar comment. The PCM needs to see very few things to actually turn the engine over, one of which is the completed clutch and/or neutral safety circuit. In a manual car, the clutch is the primary controller of the entire circuit. Since that area of his car is damaged, he may simply not be hitting the safety switch. Otherwise, the starter was definitely an issue.

The problem is that there is still enough crud in the engine and cylinders to at a minimum blow out the rings on an attempt to restart it. The engine needs to be taken completely apart before more damage is done to it.

Stick with the Mustang's original color. never change colors, unless it's a complete-bolt-by-bolt teardown. A color change may look good from a few feet, but the door jams engine bay, etc. always look terrible when they don't match. I'd say the BCM is still good use a toothbrush and rubbing alcohol and clean it up real good and let it dry well, reinstall BCM. Next since the clutch is all busted up your no-start condition is probably being caused by the clutch safety switch not being engaged. I'd put the ACDelco OEM starter motor replacement on the car, activate or bypass the clutch safety switch and crank that Viper over and listen to those ponys sing.

In a DECENTLY DESIGNED CAR you would take off the wheel unbolt the speed sensor and put the new one in, technically it should take as long to take the wheel and tire off as it would to replace the sensor. On the 2012 town country you have to take off heel, the brake caliper and the backing plate to GET to the wheel speed sensor. I know the main focus is the cars, but you do have a lovely property with open spaces, peace and quiet.

Those newer style JTEC PCM computers are much easier to fix than the older ones. That could be fixed by someone with experience so if you need to swap it there should be plenty of repair places online. Dealt with one in Florida several times and they never let me down.

The ECM probably shares a CAN signal with the BCM. If any corrosion, it will interrupt the signal and not let them talk to each other. The bcm has to communicate the cab functions to the ECM. Not sure exactly how this system is wired, but confirm your CAN continuity and voltages between the modules
