do you have any video about control arm bushings? Nissan recommended that I change my control arm bushing, which they say requires the whole control arm to be replaced - on both sides - and they want to charge nearly $1,000 although I have no issue with it. The recommendation is based on mileage. What do you think? 2008 Nissan Versa - 138k miles - Even worse, my transmission went out and I had a remanufactured one put in this week.... idk why. I just did it.

@John Fedor It's a simple car without fancy tech. Timing chain, 4 speed auto, no nav or cameras. It should last a good while longer if taken care of. 2500 is a decent price for newer-ish car that looks pretty clean, plus I'd assume it's a southern car, so not much rust or corrosion. I would not buy one of these new, but in a pinch this can be a good car for someone with a tight budget.

Just Some Guy without a Mustache no it’s not especially considering it has 111,000 miles on it and those transmissions tend to grenade themselves. This car car could be near the end of its life. Edit…didn’t I realized it had a 4 speed auto, it’ll last longer than the horrible CVT powered ones.

I’ve had my Versa for about 4 years now and it’s been a TANK. It’s nearly at 200k miles and still running strong... the worst issue I’ve had with it was just a misfire on the 1st cylinder a few weeks ago.. besides that’s it’s been perfectly fine. With regular oil changes and normal check ups and maintenance this little car will go for years and years! I recommend it as an owner 🙏🏼

We have a 2008 Versa SL CVT with nearly 190,000 miles on it, still going strong. It has probably been one of the most reliable cars I have ever owned, and fun to drive (great acceleration and MPG). The CVT has been fine because I keep the fluid very clean. I have also made sure to do all the factory maintenance per their intervals. The top failing part has been the fuel pump, which is easy to change. After we started to keep the gas in the tank over 1/4 minimum, the pump has lasted somewhat better.

Good video Scotty. I bought my first Versa Hatchback a few years ago, a 2007 for $1,800. I replaced spark plugs, coils, variable valve solenoid, MAS airflow sensor, all motor & Tranny mounts, (4 speed Jatco A/T), rear shocks, all 4 wheels, rotors, drums, brake pads & shoes. Drove the 2007 for over 2 years with no other problems. I sold the 2007 Versa last week for $3,000 with 186,000 miles, & bought a 2011 Silver Metal Flake Versa Hatchback this time with 50,000 original miles on it & in "showroom" condition, 6 speed manual transmission, for me it is a new condition car! The best part of my story is I only paid $5,000 for the 2011 Versa Hatchback! I feel that that was a pretty good upgrade for $2,000. I'm a retired Machinist, not rich but Happy!

I love my Versa hatchback! Mine is a 2011 with 150k+ miles on it! Still runs really well. I’ve driven across the country in my Versa several times. I’ve owned the car for almost seven years and couldn’t be happier. Biggest expense I’ve had so far was the exhaust pipe popped off the muffler when I hit a pot hole. So car was loud for a few days. We had good luck with a base '15 Nissan Versa (manual shift). We bought it for $12k brand new, downsized with this car but we paid other bills off quickly. We took it on a few trips to Montreal and other places, was super easy to park in tight spots and got us around just fine. The main problem was it being horrible in the snow (just invest in snow tires) and the ride quality is rough.

Now that I've gotten my finances somewhat stable it is about $40 to $50 to have it changed I've gone to Valvoline,Penzoil, and Castrol Express lube. It's convenient for me because yes Walmart or Nissan may run a special however I've had to wait over an hour at Nissan and believe it or not over 4 hours at a walmart. From what I've seen the older generation CVT transmissions had more problems than the newer generation ones. Hey Scotty, I have a 2010 Dodge Avenger I bought in Dec 2010 with 25,000 miles so almost new. I have never had any real problems with it until lately. Just had the alternator go and had that replaced, but now I had the engine go into creep mode intermittently. When I pulled the code it was showing a misfire, so since it has 161,000 miles I replaced all 4 plugs and coils, the misfire code went away was running good for about 3 days and then back into creep mode (no more then 1000 RPM and 35 mph), then the code that came back were cam sensor and crank sensor, throttle sensor, trans sensor. Seemed like the cam sensor would be the most likely since it controls firing timing if I am correct. So I changed the cam sensor and pushed it to make it fail and it wouldn't until 3 days later I pushed it hard out of a parking lot and it went into creep mode again. This weekend I am changing the crankshaft sensor. But one of the things I noticed is if I keep the RPMs at no more than 3000 it runs fine shifts fine builds up speed to 65 with no issues? What do you think?

There are millions of Nissan's running trouble free on roads with over 100ks in their clocks with CVTs. JATCO is a world class trans company and even JEEP uses their CVTs. The problem is, Nissan was the first to use CVTs on a commercial basis in 2009 and obviously early use of new tech gives a lot of teething problems mainly because people didn't know how to treat CVTs. You abuse CVT and it punishes you! Dont overload, change special oil once 50k kms and you will get one of the best of auto technologies today.

Bought mine new in 2012, and 11 years and 73K miles later, it’s been good. A/C leaks, but I don’t really use it, so I haven’t repaired it. Spark plugs and valve caps were the first significant engine repair this past year. A known issue is that the throttle body can get gunked up. I’ve had it cleaned twice, and cleaning it every few years gives a noticeable performance boost. It actually has a surprising amount of cargo space-slightly less than a Honda Fit, without feeling cramped like a Fit.
