Awhile before my gf died she went on a long vacation with her parents in California visiting their family which I'm pretty sure it was their cousins. I missed her so much while she was away so I sent her this song after hearing it and how it reminded me of how much I was missing her, and she absolutely LOVED it and she later told me that it was her new favorite song and that she couldn't help but listen to it every single day. She even knew the lyrics by heart after just 3 days. We then dubbed it as "her song" among both of our families and most of her friends and even some of my friends, just because of how much she adored it and how it made her feel. Now, ever since she died of a tumor, I was beyond devastated. And I still am. Can't frickin get over it. She meant the whole UNIVERSE to me. I came across this song in my watch later list a few weeks ago I listened to it and couldn't help but start crying in memory of her, even though itʻs been a year since she died. Same thing happens every single time I listen to it. (edit [2/27/2019] - listening to this song still does make me cry. Every. Single. Time. and it's been 2 whole YEARS since her life was concluded. (edit 2/14/2020 - same deal. Every single time, i still cry my eyes out. it's been 3 years. no difference from how i felt when she first passed.)) Hands down not only my favorite Paul McCartney song but probably my favorite song of all time because of all the memories it brings back to me. Thanks so much, Paul. I miss you so much Sarah, i can't wait to see you on the other side 😭😭😭

I still hear this song and cry because it must have been a very special friendship between Paul and John Lennon. I have a lot of love for Paul and this is probably my favorite song next to Maybe I'm Amazed.

To my Late younger brother, my only sibling 1958-2020.

What makes it a thousand times more sad is knowing that John will never hear this song, or know of its sentiments. If time travel existed and if we couldn't save Lennon, I would at least play him this song so he 'knew'. Mr McCartney has a giant heart. And we all appreciate this song expressing more 'officially' what we've all felt since John flew away. Also, it's important Paul knows that we'd all have felt the same loss for him, as we feel for John, had it been him who'd been stolen from us so soon. And I'm more than certain that John would have recorded a similar tribute from the heart, had that happened. Am very glad they had become friendly again before that horrible winter's day.

The sweetest love song in English that I know

It's an 80's song but it could be a 70's or a 60's song, it doesn't matter because the Beatles had this particular, unclassifiable and timeless style. It doesn't age and it probably never will.

I had just gotten this and was driving back to Washington from BC with my Girl Friend and 1/2 way through this song I had to pull over and stop because I could not see the road through my tears. Tug of War, Get it and Ebony and Ivory, it's hard to decide which would be my second favorite off the album.

I love the deadhead comments when what people should be acknowledging is the absolutely wonderful & sympathetic string arrangement by George Martin. It elevates the intentionally simplistic song to the level of a classic. It thus becomes a song any songwriter would be proud to have penned. What I always loved about this song from its original release was it lacked pomposity & was honest & genuine. An all too rare glimpse of the real Paul McCartney as opposed to the public one.
