Hi Jess!! I have been natural for 9 years and have big chopped 3 times. My most recent one was in December 2020 and I buzz cut it. The shortest my hair has ever been. Fast forward to now and my hair is thriving. Best decision of my life and I am happy I did it. My intial goal when I went natural was to have long hair after getting to a certain length and having to big chop multiple times because of excessive breakage due to not knowing how to properly detangling my hair. I decided my goal would be how to be gentle with my hair and baby it and realizing that its a part of me and not my enemy. We have learned to work together and because of that mindset my hair is in the healthiest state it has ever been in. Also the Lord has really helped me by allowing me to have the access to people who teach how to properly care for my natural hair. Thank you for being transparent and taking us on this journey with you.

I chopped off my dead ends last week (I keep chopping back and forth too, mainly due to not taking care properly or heat etc) so went from bra strap to neck collarbone and I feel you, I just simply stopped caring rather have healthy hair over length.
