Edena Lois Eakins Garman's Famous Chili Soup This is a hearty soup, not a stew. My mom made double helpings of this delight, and everyone loved it at the school soup fest. Everyone in town brought their favorite soup, and had a sit down in the lunch room cafeteria. Dad insisted that Mom bring her chili soup. To a large soup pot add: - 1 to 1 and 1/2 lb browned ground hamburger. Drain the grease. - 1/2 to 1 lb browned ground sausage. Aside, leave one Tablespoon of grease, if any remains, for seasoning the soup as it cooks. - 1 large 32 oz. can of Campbell's Tomato Juice. - 1 or 2 cans of stewed, or diced tomatoes. Try to find the can with onion and jalapenos in the tomatoes, and add the juice from the can also to the pot. - 1 or 2 cans of pinto beans, draining the juice. Or, you can use red kidney beans if you don't like pinto beans. The kidney beans are more chewy. If you don't like beans at all, just use one can of either of these. Don't mix the different beans in the pot. - 1/2 or more, large yellow onion, diced, or cut into strings. - 1 or 2 cloves of fresh garlic, minced, or 1 teaspoon of jar already minced garlic. - 1 and 1/2, beef bouillon cubes softened in the microwave. *To soften the boullion cubes, put them in a glass type coffee cup, or small bowl, not plastic, and cover the cubes with 3 Tablespoons of water. Cover the cup, or bowl, with a saucer. Microwave for 1 minute. The cubes will dissolve quickly as they sit waiting to be added to the chili pot. - Mccormick's dry Hot Chili Seasoning, in the bottle, as Mom did by palmful. I have used two and three palmfuls. Or, use one to two packets of hot chili seasoning mix. - If your soup still tastes bland, add extra chili seasoning from the dry bottle mix a little at a time, checking as the soup cooks. The seasoning gets more hot as it cooks. Beware. - Add cracked black pepper to your taste. About 1/2 to 1 level teaspoon. Stir, and bring all of the above ingredients to a boil, stirring occasionally. Reduce the heat to medium, or medium low, and cover the pot with a lid, or tinfoil. Check, stir, and taste occasionally, so that the soup doesn't stick to the bottom of the pot and burn. - I add a small glass of water to my chili soup pot to calm it down, and it seems to regenerate the overall taste. It is then not as acidic. Add more of what ingredients above to make this soup taste the way you like it. Your chili soup should be ready in about 20-25 minutes. The longer it cools, and is reheated from being in the refrigerator, the better it tastes. Even covered overnight, and reheated the next day is great. There is salt in saltines, so be careful about adding extra salt to the soup. A dash, or two, will do. Make Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix at the same time, as directed on the package. To this add: A good palmful of shredded cheddar, diced jalapenos, cooked bacon bits, or some of the sausage that you just browned. Or, add all of these together to the mix. Bake as directed. Place a slice in the bottom of your soup bowl, and cover with your homemade hot chili soup, instead of crackers. Freeze cooled chili soup, and also the baked muffins, in baggies, or a clean butter bowl, or even a Cool Whip bowl. Any container will do. Enjoy. glwj and caegw.arr.ae.

A cattleman keeps his Herefords on my land but the cattle keep their distance from me! Well, maybe it's my big dogs that annoy them. :) Beautiful beasts.

We have just 10 acres, so our Herefords are 00 and 000 framed.. miniature by today's standard but look at a 1920, 1930s picture and you'll see they have been upsized since that time.. man felt bigger was better.. lol, 2020 and the world is not better..

It’s really weird hearing it being pronounced as Her-Ferd, whereas in the UK the town and cattle breed is pronounced as Hera-Fud

At one time I have heard that Hereford Cattle are prone to cancer eye, pinkeye and prolapse uterus. Is any of this true. I know that there beef is great tasting an d they are very tame and gentle and they seem to forage real well. Maybe the eye and reproductive issues have been bred out of them. Just curious.

Depends on genetics ,get good cattle from a good producer and you competing with angus

Why do people come on to a video like this to pick a fight about the cattle industry? Are they that shallow and petty that they need the attention.

We don't need to feed gmo grain nor do we need glyphosate to produce wonderful Hereford meat. Herefords just make good meat all on their own merit. So, unless you know anything it is wisest to just not say anything.
