I had a similar situation when I was studying at KNUST with my girlfriend, now my wife with two kids. Even if there was a power outage on one side of the campus, we (my girlfriend and I) used to visit each other without calling first. If it seemed like both sides were in the dark, we'd just hang out together in the presence of our roommates until the lights came back on.
