I got two of these - though had only planned to buy one. I put a bird's head grip on the first one, and think it feels better. For self defense purposes, any gun is WAY better than anything else. But you have to be VERY experienced if you're thinking of using a SA revolver as your choice for self-defense.

Good review. The Barkeep is a nice little revolver if you enjoy single actions. I swapped grip frames and but a birdhead on mine. I also got a small little screw driver that fits inside a .22 LR casing to use as an ejector. I can also use it to tighten the screws if they loosen up. The .22 mag cylinder works well also in the Barkeep. Fortunately the one I have has sights that are regulated well. I use mine as a snake gun and to dispatch critters I trap. It is a useful revolver.

People that doubt or ask is a .22 good enough for self defense. should first google the origins if the very first rimfire round, the 22 short and they will find it was designed for self defense in pocket pistols in 1857. Also consider the powder back then wasn't as good or powerful as it is today. There's a reason why the 22 short and 22 lr rounds are still around after more than 160 years and that reason is that it worked back then, and still works today.

These pistol firearms, will get out of round, or cylinder timing, after they are shot very much. It is because of the aluminum frame. If thinking of purchasing one, be aware of this problem, with this particular handgun. If you are wanting a heirloom quality handgun, to shoot extensively, you are better off purchasing a steel frame Ruger Ten twenty two, older made Colt, or a Uberty colt copy instead for a couple of hundred dollars more. It will be worth it !!! , in the long run. It will also retain or increase in value. You get what you pay for !!! Kevin Phoenix

I really hope they make a big bore version of that I really love the idea of a 3 inch or less single action revolver like the old colt sheriffs models Hopefully uberti or pietta can do the same I love toting around my single action out here in the country but sometimes that long barrel does preclude it from being comfortably carried especially once you go over that four and three-quarter inch mark Those 5.5 inch barrels and 7.5‘s can definitely be a pain in the ass getting in and out of a pick up truck It’s nice to have a small concealable option or just a lighter package I really like toting around my Roughrider with a longer barrel out here on the farm because it’s great for varmint control Great video God bless keep 2A alive
