Excellent point about the difficulty in researching Cape Malay history due to there being no or little history recorded in the 'colonial' archive system in SA.

NO NO All records or ships manifests were shipped to Lieden in Holland to put a stop in the research of the heinous brutal crimes of our VOC Heeren Sewentien Masters.I believe the Cape Malay (sic) choirs and the Taalraad in Paarl have in depth knowledge of this.

Forgotten Diasporas Cape Malay: A South African Muslim identity borne out of colonialism. We survived Dutch-Indonesian and British-Malay conspiracy. Exiled from our native lands and banished to Cape Town, South Africa for being Dutch and British dissidents. We were literally thrown amongst the wild animals and savages. Punished with enslavement, torture camps, rape camps, and dispossession of land , property and possessions. With 300 years of strife - patience, endurance , and resilience - we survived and established a community with a unique culture. Alhamdulilah!

Wow. Savages. We’re still called savages even today - yet we’re not the ones who took you from the safety of your homeland and made slaves of you. Maybe we should redefine savage.

Mainly South East Asia and Madagascar along the Indian Ocean. Many have last names like, October, January, February, mainly summer months because the colonial masters just named the entire ship according to the arrival months. cape Town is also the only Town were we have 2 New Years Days, the 1st for the Master and the 2nd was for the slaves, even today it's a public holiday.

@@nomxhosapekani7966 Very dangerous comments you are making.Question: This information is you are spreading are totally incorrect.Your sources of this information is thumb sucking.Unless you have received this information from an credible Cape Slave researcher your comment is laughable and without merit.

Only the 1860"s Indian Indentured labourers have done their DNA tests because they are so scared that they are from Caste people of India. Why did the Melayu Cape go for DNA testing???Good question. My take on this. They Orang Melayu are brainwashed in accepting an newly engineered Cape Muslim Identity which is an assimilation of Indeginous Khoi San people war and economic refugees from Africa,Arab,Indo Pak and Bangla people except the Indian Indentured labourers from Mother India because they are emboldened

@@moegamatgielmie9629 So they are not pure Malay/Melayu? Also if youre talking in english. Orang Melayu should be translated into Malay people. Malay language into english: Orang = people Melayu = Malay
