I went to Sweetwater and I was BSing around and I picked up a standard H-150 and I was surprized at how HEAVY it was but also how beautiful and well made. I'll save some $ and get a Custom Core, it's expensive but it can become beloved heirloom.

Like yourself am a huge fan of the Heritage H-150. Have a few H-150's, one from the mid/late 80's and a ltd run 2019 and a 2021 Custom Core. All are terrific Guitars, very well made and only get better over time. The Custom Core is on another level for sure. The story of the 225 Parsons St pickups is very cool, the found an old pickup winder left behind by Gibson from back in the Golden Era of Gibson (58-60 LP's) that was used to wind the PAFs back then. Completely rebuilt it and recreated as close as possible the PAF tone. It is only used for the Custom Core and they will not sell the pickups on their own either. Always tell anyone asking about purchasing a LP to check out the Heritage and go to a store that carries both, check em out, feel, play and listen, side by side. If they know Guitars, they're always surprised. Ever noticed on KZfaq it is very rare for a head to head battle comparing the LP Standard and the H-150? Stores that carry both won't do it, or if they do, never truly go over the specs (as the H-150 blows the LP out of the water). What usually happens is the H-150 is compared to the Les Paul Custom Shop, truly not a fair comparison against a guitar 3 times the price. Point being, pleased you've done this video. Nice to see an owner break down the two. Not sure if you have or play the H-535, again it is an absolute beast of a guitar. May want to check one out.. Haha. Thank you so much for the video. Really informative. Does the Custom Core and Standard top carve differ? I saw in a different video that top carves were different. Just curious if that is relevant to all models or maybe just to the solid colours.

It's a great guitar. Each takes 6 months in the factory to go from a block of wood to a finished product. Super smooth and mellow, yet when you punch it to 10, the sound changes pretty dramatically

They don't come standard with 59s...It's the dealers choice...I bought my standard h150 from Wolfe guitars with Seth Lover pickups.

I have a few guitars I bought from Jay Wolfe. I have never heard of them putting Seth Lovers in the H-150's only the H-535's. Duncan 59's come standard in all of the H-150's

h-150 Standard I just bought today from Sweetwater has 59's in it, will probably swap a Suhr Aldrich in at the bridge. The Suhr's are great in my LP Black Beauty custom, can only imagine what they'll sound like in a "true" LP-Heritage.

@@JLFulks Heritage used Seth Lovers for a short time a while back, was the last pickup used before exclusively using the SD-59. Note: was told by someone at the Heritage Factory a couple years ago their 59's are slightly different than the stock SD-59's as they are spec'd to be slightly more wound.

Mid 90s had a choice between 2 Fender Stratocasters or a Heritage H-150 for $500 each. Heritage won hands down, still have it and it's one of my go to guitars

It's not worth the price difference. A pound of weight can be overcome and the pickups are easily changed for probably $200 dollars to fit your preference. An additional $1400 is obnoxious for some pickups, tuners, weight cut and cosmetic finish.

The custom core is amazing guitar with killer custom pickups and the electronics blow away the epiphone pickups and electronics . You can't really say you would take one guitar over these w guitars all day long without actually comparing them back to back and actually playing them. Everyone wants to believe their guitar is better then other similar guitars especially when their guitar is a much cheaper one and they are watching reviews of much more expensive guitars. I've seen people claim their epi 59 les paul is better sounding then any Gibson ever created even real 59s and that no modern Gibson can or will sound like the epi 59. I own 2 epi 59s 2 gibson R8s and and 3 Gibson USA les Paul's and I love the epi 59s but the gibsons are superior. As far as people saying a modern Gibson won't sound like the epi 59 which is silly because the epi 58 has modern Gibson pickups so all you have to do is put the same Gibson pickups in a gibson and the guitars will sound extremely close. I have a Gibson Bonamassa gold top studio with the BB2 and 3 and it sounds very close to my epi 59s accept the Gibson is more clear and has little more bite but the clarity is really the only difference.
