Fort Delimara is one of the best examples of Victorian fortifications in Malta. Constructed between 1876 and 1878, it defended the approaches to Marsaxlokk harbour. Over the years it received various modification to its configuration in order to be armed with the latest artillery available until the abolishment of coast defence in 1956.
