Great video! As for the type of foam, I can answer this as I just started doing the same thing to my bike. It's that foam that's used for fake flower arrangements. Buy it at any craft store i.e. Michaels.

I am confused on how to mount this seat to the frame when it's finished. Could someone fill me in? I am going to attempt to make one but I need more details.

Hi Herm I live in France and I really enjoyed your video. It's very well explained. I wanred to know where I could get those "polystirene blocks" in the Us because I dont know if they have them available in Europe . thanks

People, the green bricks are floral foam, you can get a case of 20 for about £20 on eBay. the polystyrene sheet is about £5. the glue just go to the D.I.Y shop.

@thunder81 I've just started to do this and I don't know what he's using in the video, but I went to a crafts store and bought some wet foam they use to hold fake plants in place. Mine's drying right now, so if you wait, I can tell you if it fails catastrophically. lol

What kind of foam did you use to make the mold for the seat? Where did you source it from? I'm working on a project now to craft hard bags for a '99 Sportster XLH 883. We don't wan to spend 50% of the bikes value just to add hard bags, and looking at your video with the careful shaping of the foam was good. We'd like to go that way instead of buying so we can say built, not bought.

You can find fiberglass cloth in a good car parts store or online. The only thing I'm not sure about is the thickness (450g/m2) and the kind (cloth or woven math). Herm seems to be using regular (non-woven) cloth, but my brother says a woven cloth is stronger and you should combine these two? Could someone verify this information please?

small side note , always wear a painters mask with good filters when using spray adhesive, the stuff is not like paint its literally glue vapour , read the back of the can there will be similar warnings its much worse than breathing in paint fumes

Thank you man, it's sticky sh** and the spray adhesive didn't... well stick. So we did the foam blocks with special glue (which doesn't eat the foam). And in the end we were exactly like: IT'S A SHELL !! ;)

the main problem i have found using the blocks and glue and just that, the more intricate the shape becomes, the harder itis to keep it all together becuase the bricks do NOT like to stick to each other... if there were a way to get the foam to behave during detailing, it would be fool proof! its a bad Ass process all around!
