Do you think the noise is acceptable for the price? Or “in the noise tolerance standard of the product” 😜?
@alexworm1707
@alexworm1707 Жыл бұрын
That's defined by them, not the user, the user either accepts their tolerance or move on to another chair. They have one of the best return policies out there. I for one don't really mind noisy chairs, if the chair was good enough in other areas i could live with it, but obviously the noise comes from the tech they used to make the chair as flexible and supportive as it is.

FYI, never use WD-40 as a lubricant. It is not a lubricant, and does a terrible job of lubricating things. It _seems_ to do a good job lubricating things, but it's designed to dry out. And once it does that it doesn't lubricate things anymore. The reason it seems to work as a lubricant are kind of complicated. It's a quite good solvent, so it's very good at cleaning gunk out of hinges and such that cause increased friction. It's especially good at dissolving rust, so it's great at releasing rusted bolts and such. But if you have a clean hinge and add WD-40, then it will only reduce friction until the WD-40 dries, at which point it will actually be worse off than before because now you've got dried on residue from the WD-40 and probably dust and other things sticking to it. If you want to actually lubricate something, use 3-in-1 oil, or any other light oil intended for lubrication. They're cheap and come in a little can with a squirt nozzle so it's easy to dispense small amounts of lubricant exactly where it needs to go. They don't dry out like WD-40, and will keep the joint lubed up for a long, long time. If the hinge is cruddy, a bit of WD-40 before the oil is good, because WD-40 is so good at cleaning stuff. A good squirt of WD-40 will clean out all the old lubricant that's loaded up with gunk, and leave a clean hinge ready to accept more lubricant.

Aeron chair like he says , it forces you to sit in the position it is designed to. If you try to relax out of the position it is designed to , the outer hard plastic on the seat and back dig into you're skin ...I returned the Aeron and got the Logitech Gaming Embody the noise it makes took about a year for it to go away .The noise did not bother me at all. And i get good posture and i can sit back and relax in any position i feel like with out the hard plastic digging into my skin.

I use the Aerons at work (12 hours of sitting 5 days a week) and they're incredible. I was torn between Aeron and Embody for at home gaming and ultimately went with the Embody a year ago. I don't think either of them is any better than the other but they're both definitely the most comfortable chairs I've ever had the pleasure of using. Any issues I have with one are present in the other - i.e. slight tailbone pain after not moving around for a few hours due to intense gaming or intense working. My embody doesn't squeak either. I'm a bigger girl so the tailbone pain is probably just from that 🤣 otherwise, I have 0 pain or soreness from either. If I HAD to choose between the two, I'd probably end up choosing the Aeron and that's only because the mesh is slightly more comfortable and I feel more supported in a reclined state than I do with the Embody.

Thank you for the review. It is honest and very informative. To be fair, both chairs are of high quality, and you mentioned all the annoying issues. In my case, I have used the Aeron B chair for 2.5 years and now switching to gaming embody, taking advantage of the current discounts. First, the Aeron chair fixed my back issues which wouldn't let me sleep. The lumbar support is phenomenal and I wish it was transferrable to other chairs! But there are a couple of things that made me purchase the embody: - Aeron seat tension: There is high pressure on the bottom area, and this is something to consider. When releasing the tension on the mesh, it doesn't have a great feeling on the legs just because of the plastic and the seat design and length. On the other hand, when the seat is tense, the pressure on the bottom is too high. - Aeron sitting position: Be aware that it doesn't allow any position other than the normal one. While this seemed like a great idea when I was purchasing the chair for home use, it now makes me want to avoid sitting on the chair when I finish work - Aeron arm width: It is configured back and forth and diagonally, not inwards! if you have a smaller chest area, and you really need to have your arms attached to your body (to avoid arm & neck pain) while sticking your back to the back of the chair, it's not possible since your elbows start falling. I have used chairs where the arms can be moved inwards without rotating the arm direction. Despite all that, the mechanism feels highly robust and of high quality. One of the main reasons that I switch to embody, knowing its mechanism is not very smooth when configuring it. - Aeron arm height and size is not very well suited for going under the desk in combination with the seat height, rest of the chair height. All these can become even worse when I add an extra padded seat to tackle the seat tension :( - Aeron extras - Atlas headrest: I have also purchased the Atlas headrest which feels great, but I also removed it for two reasons: a. I found that I want to allow more neck movements during the day, and the headrest's design doesn't let it to go further back (like in the embody atlas headrest) b. In the above-mentioned design, there is a piece of metal that scratches the wall if there is a wall behind the chair. All of the above issues are a combination of the individual's body (also fitness), space and setup, so I would suggest testing the chairs (if possible) and taking measurements of your desk height and the desk/table top's thickness before purchasing. I hope that helps in some way!

I love my Aeron. If you get the right size for your height, the hard plastic edges won't bother you. See how his shoulders are above the back of the chair in his B? I have a C and am 186cm. and the back of the chair is just above my shoulders when I lean back. Aeron is the best chair for seated VR playing with the forward tilt too. 🤙

I would love to see you cover the Haworth Fern, I have one and I absolutely love it. It has a very flexible back like the embody but it has more traditional adjustments. imo, the best spec is digital knit, lumbar support, no head rest. Design is totally subjective, but in my opinion the Fern looks better in more situations than the Embody, which has a futuristic/gamer aesthetic. The fern is cleaner and more professional, which is a bit more boring to some but I personally prefer it.

The embody is made with all these moving plastic parts that give it the embody identity. The bending of that plastic which gives the embody its movement is going to cause noise. Unless Herman Miller can defy the laws of physics or change materials to some magic material I don’t see them ever removing the noises while keeping the same flexible movement design.
@Unfilterd
@Unfilterd Жыл бұрын
Actually, I think the reason of the sounds shown in the video has absolutely nothing to do with the pixelated design or it’s features. It comes from the seat, and is worse when extended. It’s probably solved with some lubricant, but like I said in the video: It should’ve been handled when produced, since I hear alot of people complaining about it, it must be common
@jensendenton
@jensendenton Жыл бұрын
@@Unfilterd Nope, the noise is not coming from the plastic parts mainly, but from the meeting points of the fabric/padding and the pixelated boards. The noise is even worse with the Logitech Gaming Embody, as it has an extra foam padding on the pixelated board, under the fabric - and it sqeeks real bad, as it can slide from side-to-side on the plasitc when you move. The original Embody with the rythm fabric sqeeks a lot less, then the sync fabric ones as the sync is very similar to the one on the Gaming Embody. Actually, the revised (since 2022 Q1-2 maybe?) original Embody has the same foam padding on the seat as the Gaming Embody has, and with the sync fabric, it can sqeek the same since - but not that bad like the Gaming version, as the back panel has no padding on the revised original. Obviously your bottom does not move so much as your back - so If someone likes the Embody, but does not want so much noises, then the original Embody is the way to go (I admit that the Logitech one is cool looking, but the original also comes in various colors, though some users stated that the Logitech foam padded backplate is more comfortable then the original - always try before buy! :) ).

The Embody has a *huge* design flaw that no one talks about - it rounds your shoulders forward due to the concave back. One of the most important keys to ergonomic seating is keeping your shoulders back and chest wide open, the Embody forces your shoulders forward and keeps your chest closed. This is super bad for your posture, the way to correct it is to put something down the middle of your spine, like a towel or pool noodle, which is an indictment for such an expensive chair. The Aeron promotes keeping your shoulders back and chest open... however I think the Embody is a better chair in basically every other way. I'm keeping my embody, but I have a cushion down my back to promote an open chest.
