Grian, I don't think the DHP office is annoying enough. You know what it _really_ needs? A queue. Don't open the office until a certain number of Hermits need to go there (the number is random between 2-5), and once in, each one has to push a button on a dispenser where they take a number (random between 1 - 100), then you go up slowly until their number is called, and _that's_ where you annoy them with the music while the rest have to wait for their turn. 🤣

The permit office's second door should be a parkour challenge that *literally* makes you jump through hoops to get in

The composter is there for Lag Reduction, when a hopper has nothing over it, its CONSTANTLY checking if there is any items it can pick up which causes a lot of lag on servers. When a container is placed on top of a hopper it only needs to check each slot that a container holds, and because a composter only has one slot (for the bonemeal it makes) its the most efficient at reducing lag! Breaking the composter wont break the contraption, it just might cause some minor lag. Hope this gives a little insight! (Question asked @ 6:40 )

I feel like Grian should hire an "assistant" at the permit office who is completely useless, and doesn't know any of the forms, so they constantly have to ask Grian. Thus allowing Grian to actively waste two Hermit's time simultaneously. Would be even funnier if the assistant knew one ultra obscure thing that will likely never happen like: form to request the trade of a permit between two hermits involved in a feud that wish to trade permits while simultaneously skydiving. When it comes to that form the assistant knows EXACTLY where the form is, how to fill and file it etc.

Gotta love Joel holding Grian at swordpoint the whole way to the office.

I am noticing a pattern. Grian is going through American history this season. First colonizing the mountain. Then he revolted against getting an elytra early on. He made the manifest mending episode. Now he is going through the beginning of the industrial revolution. Now we all know what's next.

For your mushroom shop I say that you basically recreate your sea pickle shop from season 6 and like then, add signs with mushroom puns instead of pickle puns.

A tip I figured out with the horse pen to make it look less obvious is sense horses can’t go through one block ways you can get rid of some of the carpets as long as they don’t make a big enough gap. Hope this helps!

With regards to Redstone, I can guarantee no one shares the work that it took to get to the solution: they only share the final solution. It's genuinely impressive that you figured out that mushroom farm on your own. Don't be embarrassed that it took you time and effort: everyone does, even if it may not look it

I do love that in Grian's effort to make sure he does as little work as possible for the Permit Office, he has in fact continually made more work for himself.

Permit form idea: make 1 of each form, and then give the another book to write answers in, it makes it more annoying, and you don’t need to make copies, plus if someone comes asking for that form you can say that you don’t have it right now and are waiting for it to be returned

The reason why the composter above the hopper is so important is that the hoppers constantly check if an item is above them so it can fall into the hopper and get collected. When you put a container on it (i.e. a chest), the hopper stops checking for items above it, and instead starts checking for items in the container. The reason why you'd use a composter is that the composter has only one slot and that slot can only have bonemeal in it, so the hopper checks for less items, and therefore _reduces lag._

The fact that Grian has a mustache bigger than Mumbo’s, and is calling himself a redstone god, shows that you are who you hang out with.

Composters are advised in modern redstone, especially in servers, because they reduce the lag of hoppers detecting items above them. Instead of detecting for items 20 times per second, it checks the composter’s single “slot” much less because it is a container block. Love your work Grian, good work on the tutorial!

at 6:43, the purpose of the composter is to prevent lag from hoppers if they dont have anything on top of them, basically every tick thet check for items above them, so to prevent that from happening and lagging the server, putting a composter on top makes it so it omly checks for one thing every tick

Grian when people have a request at the permit office that you haven’t thought of yet they should have to sign a “creation of a new form” form with yet more inane requirements. You could also make something that randomly generated requirements like Grumbot’s content generator for the permit office to help with creating new forms.

HI GRAIN! We should get “one-time use” permits. For example, hermits can bid for the opportunity to build a game, scavenger hunt, or other experience. The “bidding” shouldn’t be with diamonds as the permit office should be a non-profit community function, but hermits could offer up things that could benefit the shopping district (roads, lighting, horse stables, etc.). Leave other experience or bidding ideas below. P.S. Grian if you see this, you could stock the book & quill forms on the backside of the office desk instead of in the decorative bookshelves behind you so you don’t mix up the forms with regular books. 16:09

Grian's description of the redstone experience is so real. I don't make original designs but the adjustments feels so rewarding because they're not at all easy. Just easier than the machine itself.
