Another question.. how would this affect exploration? Since 5 hero’s

It does to some degree impact exploration, but not enough that I would care really because beyond a certain point this doesn't amount to much when the first three are much stronger. Ideally yes, having all 5 with a decent set is the most practical - but its also the most expensive.

Does Chief gear always work, for example, if just joining rallies?

When you join a rally, you're not using your chief gear no.

@@Dakanoth so basicly for f2p most important things are maxed Sergey, Bahiti and Jessie with best possible hero gears; and then just get fire crystals and speedups for max troop tier? Mythic heroes and and the rest expensive items are secodary hmm :)
