Canonically, the goddess didn't give him any other power than that speech skill. His magical strength initially comes from originally living in a nonmagical world, with his abilities constantly growing under the pressure.

@@vvachi5289 It's partially because of his parents originally coming from the magical world and him being raised on magicless Earth but also because Tsukiyomi kind of helped to unlock his ability to grow since the Goddess treated him terribly. His bow concentration does expand his magic power by splitting his soul from body, causing a 'death' and 'rebirth' to double his power. In the light novel it kind of expanded on his Sensei a little bit later on, also mentioning about his fighting skills a bit as well related to her training.

He doesnt have lvl999 abilty, he has basicaly Godess lvl powers from the cheat that is soul reincarnation. He can seperate his soul from his body while consentrating, then reenter his own body thus doubling his power. Bc he does this *multiple* times subcontiously. He becomes insanely OP

Actually the reason he’s so strong was first because his parents were from the fantasy world he was in now and they were pretty capable too. Add on to that earth was a very harsh environment for magic users and suppressed the use of magic abilities so his magic, I guess you could say, circulatory system became over developed coupled with his archery practice improving him mentally. This all added together to make him really powerful in the other world but causing him to unknowingly have insanely high level-up requirements thus creating an all powerful rookie so to speak. The goddess didn’t give him crap except languages and the god from his world gave him his Kai abilities.

@@lolkidtt2587 god, not goddess, he also has one sister and one brother, all three are born from the left eye, right eye and nose of Izanagi while he was cleaning his body after sealing Yomi, after witnessing what his sister, Izanami had become, it was kind of necessary, it was pretty nasty. left eye bore a girl, the goddess of the sun, Amaterasu, who's beauty shined light onto all creation. the right eye bore a boy, Tsukuyomi, the god of the moon, who protects the world as it sleeps. the nose bore another boy, a rambunctious one by the name of Susanoo, lord of revel, god of the storm. Japanese creation myth is freaking awesome, not to mention the stories the gods get in rival the greek pantheon in story telling. highly suggest reading into it.

Stick with whatever suits you best. Personally though, I love watching the detailed story, getting to know the characters and getting a feel for them, hearing the dramatic music, effects, etc.) It all is what is best about anime, if it's all summarized by this one dude that really takes the fun out of it for me. Honestly I'm just here to get put on to some new anime.

If there's no drama or tension or possibility of failure for the hero, there's no point in watching.

For the impatients, i urge you to consider reading the light novel. 398 (fat) chapters so far (?), i'm at 308 and oooh boy the story is good. I can't wait for the new manga volumes to come out, new anime season as well. A bit sad it's not as thorough as the LN but it's common and understandable. This is one of my favorites in the last .. 10 years, seriously.
