I am a 56 year old PC gamer who cut his teeth on Red Alert and HOMM 3. True story; my home was broken into just 3 months after I purchased my (then) $3200 Pentium 120 with a 3dFX card and 8Gb of RAM and 17" display. Took 6 weeks for the insurance to clear, and when it did HOMM 3 was the first game I re-purchased to go with my new PC. The very fondest of memories. Just stopping by to toot the horn of a new game in the genre, "Songs of Conquest"...because the more games like HOMM3 that succeed, the better games we will get!

I just love the silly little backstory that you're creating along the way, with how the "evil" creatures that you'd hired have now committed an insurrection and captured Loynis to be their scout. It's quite a lot of fun to project your own thoughts and ideas about how the plot of these campaigns would play out, which I guess is the sort of thing that you can't get with properly voice-acted and properly presented campaigns like in the later games (though do keep in mind I have not played any of the other games in the series yet).

To be honest, I really respect you. I’m playing the game for 15 years now (very casually and in episodes) and even on normal difficulty, this game sometimes breaks my back and makes me crawl into to corner of my room, crying. This level of skill is terrifying.

Btw KZfaq Studio is telling me this video is only in Standard definition, not HD, but I can see HD resolutions completely fine on the watch page. 🙄If you can't see HD options then let me know and I'll re-upload if it's widespread.

Looks good here, 720p is what I always watch everything in ... not sure if that's considered HD anymore. I have an older device and it always lags if it's in 60 frames per second so this is what I personally prefer

This guy's resource management and way of taking minimal casualties every time is impressive. I have only played on impossible difficulty a few times and never against 7 opponents.

once you get past the beginning Inferno's a really good town - it's the beginning that is completely cursed for them, as the abysmally low number they get the starting units, which makes absolutely no sense. but especially when you can link multiple towns with castle gate they truly show their insane power. soo satisfying to be able to have a single defender hero between multiple towns who controls the army of all towns.

It's true that Inferno is a lot better in Hota, however I think that AI has been greatly improved in Hota as well, so at least you got that going for you. Good luck on the journey.

I'm not sure what you mean? It's not possible to demolish towns. I expect it would involve a lot more micro-management to defend conquered towns so not that fun imo, but in this series I try to focus on Inferno units. Also, I guess technically my Vampires Only series would count :)

I am not good at this game, but as far as I know it has been proven in practice that it doesn't matter much whether the AI is allied or not. I understand the logic behind the theory of them becoming stronger when not allied, but I saw some youtubers test it, and the theory seemed shaky in practice.

Always have wondered: considering day7, is it better to build another dwelling or go for creature growth (citadel/castle) ? Is there an even breakpoint where a certain tier dwelling outweights the citadel/castle ? Is it situational depending on the creature utility ? I`m guessing you want to build for eg Angels instead of castle, but what about lower in tier creatures ?

I would say that if your current powerstack benefits from more growth go citadel, if you are making another unit that will be crucial then go for that. Example - if you cannot build lake for efreti and you are clearing map with gogs, i would go for citadel. If i can build lake and i skip citadel i go for lake so i can get efreet. Hope that helps.

Give 3v5 a go 👍 remember you will only ever have to battle one opponent at a time, so if you keep losses down it's surprisingly doable

Accepting auto battle vs marksmen is simply cheating. There is no way the losses would only be 12 imps. On the other hand, rolling the marksmen as the guards is extremely unfortunate and you would have won easily vs most other tier 2 units. I really don't like the auto-battle but i can accept it as a RNG equalizer, especially since you put extra challenges for yourself in other aspects. Great job with the playthrough.

You could have hit and run the archers by blocking the drawbridge and then shooting with gogs and ballista and dancing efreet back and forth. Might have taken 2-4 turns of fiddling though. Not backseating (I don't know if it would be a good play) just replying to your statement that you couldn't have hit and run the archers.

I'll take your word for it as I can't remember the part you mean 😅 typically in a siege battle, my instinct is to kill off the enemy as quickly as possible as I'm used to keeps / arrow towers being there. I forget the drawbridge trick but it feels kinda cheesy sometimes anyway
