A Fire Chief’s Perspective

Күн бұрынThis is a thirty-year-old station that looks brand new. Kentwood Fire Company has an employee mindset that shows through in the administration and the facilities. It all starts with the Chief, Brent Looman, a second-generation firefighter. He has been leading the group for the past 11yrs and cares deeply for his staff and the community. Chief Looman opened the doors and allowed you to see inside the firehouse and the Administration building. What is very cool about this was both aspects of the service are located in one place, divided by only the apparatus bay. Walking into this station does not look like it's 30 years old. The administration side of the building not only holds the Chief and his line officers but also houses the Fire Marshals. It's always great to see the collaboration between staff and the administration. When it is done right you get awesome results like the Kentwood Fire Company Station 51. Thank you to Chief Brent Looman for taking the time to show us around.

You should check out Saginaw City MI Central Station 1. It’s a pretty old Station. Also Detroit FD Houses are super cool. Lot’s of old Fire Houses with amazing history behind them.

Great show as always thanks for coming to Michigan my department is about 25 miles away from kentwood I listen to them all the time there a busy department with mutual aid to Wyoming, Cutlerville, Dutton and your hometown Mike Grand Rapids and there own calls very busy department can’t wait to see more Michigan episodes coming soon thanks.

You should check out Dearborn fire station they have really cool fire trucks and cool crews and Detroit has some good trucks also

Awesome station. Great to see the firehouse kept up in the condition that it is. So many departments want the glamour and glitz to have the biggest and the best. The bunk room is great; I’m a believer in the open bunk room concept. And an awesome display of the helmets from Emergency. Just noticed that this is Station 51.

Absolutely awesome! When you get back over to Pennsylvania, you should look into covering the United Fire Company in Montrose, PA. I belong to a neighboring station, Rush Fire Department, and we just recently helped United celebrate their 175th anniversary! There were somewhere around 20 departments that sent apparatus to participate in United’s parade! Keep doing awesome things!!

@@henryfreeman6113 he works in the offices at station five. He’s not a firefighter/paramedic anymore. He’s an inspector/investigator. Which means he goes out to different business and places to make sure they are fire safe. And when there’s a fire he goes and investigates the cause.

cannot wait for when you are able to come to the UK, when you do, must check out my local station, in wrexham north wales, one of the largest in the UK and possibly one of largest in europe, combined fire and ambulance resource center with silly amount of engine bays :o

QRS unit is a foreign word in the mass/RI area. Not sure the blanket “east coast” statement is the best to portray the difference in regions. Excellent video non the less
