This might just be the best escape act i've ever seen. And i agree with penn, the friendship just adds that extra layer. Suddenly you don't just empathize with the person in the barrel, but also with the person locking the chains. A person we can see through the whole trick, who's feeling exactly what everyone feels, engages with the audience, it's brilliant. And yes, i watch lockpicklawyer, i watch fool us, i watched breaking the magicians code, i know a lot of the tricks. But still, watching it takes my breath away. Creating that emotional connection is the real magic in this trick.

I just love this show. They don't throw anyone on that stage but world-class acts. Nobody gets on there just to be shitty like on most American Idol clones. It's just quality, quality, quality and the judges are just fans of magic.

I realize the patter about the supposed danger of the escape is part of the act, but every time I’ve ever heard them speak about this P&T have always made it perfectly clear how much they detest any act that would actually puts the performers into any true danger (the word they most often use is “immoral”). This, of course, in no way diminishes the thrill and brilliance of the act and its presentation. Good job.

This might sound weird, but watching Sarah just stand there waiting was the most intense for me. I understand this is an act, but there is still a drop of truth to it; even if the act is 99% safe - there still is the possibility something could go wrong - so when she stands there, there is part of the fear that's true.

What I love about this escape is it looks like a pure escape. You did exactly what you said you would do- and we were able to "see" the whole thing. Too often it ends with a magic trick and the performer is in another part of the theater at the end or a curtain goes up so we don't know what happened. You were locked in a barrel and you escaped the barrel. I'm sure there was trickery involved but you can't tell nor do I want to know that. Well done!

First off just wanted to say excellent performance! Although like Penn and Teller I too know about how locks work as it is one of my hobbies and I saw some of what "safe and moral" they were talking about. Doesn't detract from the experience of the performance at all though. Just something an escapologist or a locksport enthusiast would spot.

most watertank acts you see a huge blanket hide the act, then you know something is smelly, but this is all for real. you know the girl is there all the time, you know she is locked up, and you see her literally try to pick those locks on the barrel. Easy or not. only these factors together allready makes it a nightmare from hell, even if it is an easy construction.

Good presentation, however, it is a very simple trick, I will not fully reveal how I did, I will only mention that she could not do this trick without putting the barrel on top of that "WOODEN BASE" .. another way of saying it would be that she could not do the trick by placing just the sweep on the floor.
@madcapx
@madcapx 3 жыл бұрын
i dont think that has got anything to do with it since the barrel is still full to the brim with wine when she opens the lock. I rather think there is a breathing device hidden in the barrel and that is where you would prefer wine (so a camera can do the overhead shot). weather it to be a tube or oxygen tank i think you can use both but a tube would be easier (just blow the wine out of the tube and than start breathing.). The locks are dumped within a few seconds anyway..
@sixoffcenter80
@sixoffcenter80 3 жыл бұрын
@@madcapx I think one of the key things they said was "under... liquid". implying that she was underneath the liquid rather than in it for the majority of the trick. I suspect there was some kind of membrane in the barrel that she could poke her body through, but would close back up tight enough to keep the liquid above it.

I'd say this act plays it TOO safe really. The locks and barrel are never inspected. I'm thinking either an air tank hidden in the lower compartment, or an elevator kinda system and sump that pushes the "wine" back into the barrel. Look at how she's lowered into the barrel it's a little TOO straight for her to get up to her collarbone before submerging. Still hell of an entertaining act and the chemistry between Miranda and Sarah is amazing. This is clearly a well practiced act, but I don't think escapes will ever fool PandT unless there was an actual element of danger and they've been very clear on how they feel about that.

That wine has a great body, for about two minutes and 23 seconds. How long is it from that to unconsciousness and worse, medical people?
